Had a wedding Friday in Custer South Dakota so made the weekend of it and did some exploring. Had to see Crazy horse and Mount Rushmore of course. Then made our way to devils tower after some delicious food and brews in Spearfish. Finally we took the long way home and got to see some pretty amazing parts of Wyoming.

Busy 3 day weekend in just a few sentences and photos but the main point of the story is to get out and go places! We did about 1100 miles in the GX and can’t wait till the next trip!View attachment 3112138View attachment 3112140View attachment 3112142View attachment 3112144View attachment 3112145
Very nice, i was just there on may of this year. Did you check out badlands national park… pretty nice there as well.

Installed OEM sport headlights and did a transmission fluid flush and replaced the filter/strainer. Pretty easy (especially if you don't drop the pan), but I had to clean the threads of a few bolt holes with a tap and ended up flushing out more fluid than I had at the end.

Shifts like a top now but wish I had a WAT valve body to put in while I was in there.

While it wasn’t today, we did have a busy weekend.
This travel trailer followed me home Saturday lol. Brand new 2022 Coachmen Clipper 182BDU. The GX handled it without a problem. You can definitely tell there’s weight behind it but we didn’t experience any tail wagging the dog. I stiffened up the rear shocks so it hardly sagged and the tongue of the trailer is still a smidge high (running a two point blue ox WDH) but I’m hoping when I the upgraded hitch shows up the fact that it sits a couple inches lower may be perfect.
Hope Rednexus isn’t too disappointed in me lol.

Does your head unit have a specific slot for a front-facing camera? Been debating something like this for assistance as I learn to drive off road. Seems like good insurance while picking lines.
Yeah. Pioneer avh2550. It’s quite a few years old but has two video inputs. Rear view pops up in reverse but I can toggle between both sources other times.

Did some wheeling in Tennessee at Coppenger Cove. Amazing spot. Like a lil Rubicon.

Nice trailer! With the WDH on there it should tow pretty well. And much better with a regear :)

Thanks man!
I’m planning to get it on a jack to count revolutions. I’m wondering if the P/O geared it but didn’t mention it because of the noise coming from up front. I swapped the hubs but the noise didn’t go away.
And it runs too good being on 35s imo.

If not I definitely plan to gear it eventually though

I’ve been towing airstreams (4-6,000 lbs) for five years on 33” tires and totally regret not re-gearing. Also, if I knew I’d be towing as often as I do, I would have upgraded the valve body too.

I can't imagine towing 6K on 33's and stock gears at altitude! Not that the GX can't handle it but it must have required some patience while accelerating or climbing a pass :). My regear is on hold until my 32's wear out. Right now tows 3-4K fairly well, other than 5th gear always seeming too high and 4th gear always seeming too low with the stock 3.73's and our roads around here.

I rarely feel like I NEED more power. Around here, the passes are either multiple lanes and I just keep to the right or they’re so steep and narrow that going faster would be unsafe. Holding 4-5,000 rpm’s for a minute or two feels uncomfortable but I don’t doubt the 2UZ can handle it. Just change fluids often and it’s been okay to 210,000 miles so far.
Better gears and lockup torque converter would feel so much nicer though.

That looks great! Where did you end up ordering Prado window trim from? I’m in dire need of replacing mine

I ordered all 6 pieces from partsouq.com back in Feb 21. Cost was $145 shipped from UAE. Part #'s need are below...

@Toyoland66 Did you heat gun the old ones or just rip them Off? How'd you deal with the gummy sealant?
I was hesitant when I started removing mine then stalled out. I've since learned there's no retaining the old when you take them off so I need to go at it again with that attitude.... I'm still curious though about the goop and cleanup prior to installing the blacks. 🤙🏼

We took the Clipper out for its maiden voyage Friday and everything worked out well. I felt bad seeing my 5’2 wife struggle to get our 3mo son situated in his car seat so I began searching for t4r steps. I’d have preferred sliders of course but can’t drop that kind of coin right now. Remember when sliders were 480 shipped?
Anyway picked these up for $40 which is hard to beat.
They look a lot better than the factory steps imo and tuck up higher than the lower link skids so I think they’ll be fine for awhile. Will be extra careful when off-road of course.
