I see some brakes in my future,

could be a good time for the 460 rotor and caliper swap ...

and also reminded me about the shredded KDSS RSB bushings ... again

Also, had a license plate light out... considered LED swap, but $10+ for one LED, vs $5+ for two conventional, I went cheap

then found an unexpected bonus in my Suby OBS plug wires box. 😎 🤙

Gave the ol' headlights a good polish...

I drained 4.5 gallons of soy sauce out of the transmission and pumped in as much cranberry juice. It shifts very smoothly and we’ll see how much cooler it runs pulling the airstream up to 10,000 feet later today.
With the larger transmission cooler and new ATF, my max ATF temp was 204 at 10,000 feet on a 12° grade at 40-50 mph pulling 6,000 lbs. We made it. I’m satisfied with those numbers.

Still getting used to the "new to me" 2005 GX 470 Sport, super clean southern rig, no rust, 145k mi. Upgraded the high and low headlights to LEDs so I could actually see at night. Almost think it still had the original low beams.

not even close comparison, don't know how I made it home over the weekend driving at night.

night and day difference.

now to do wait for some goodies to ship, do the 90k service since that was only unknown, and figure out what to do on the rear suspension now that the air bags settle overnight.

Mirror lake? Those FJ 8-holes look great. Making me consider swapping mine from my 4Runner to the GX

Prepping and painting the white knuckle off road sliders. Really impressed with the quality of these. Sat in the original packing in my closet for about 2 months, and there was almost no superficial rust on the bare steel. It’s clear they took a lot of care packing them for delivery.

this self etching primer is brutal! Even with a P100 mask and being outside, the smell is awful. My beard doesn’t help the mask fitment, but I’m glad I’ve got it.

will let the primer cure overnight, then paint tomorrow. Install Saturday will be interesting by myself…

Metal-etching primer is no joke. Used it when I used to paint cars for a living. It has acid in it, so protect yourself anytime you use it. I'm also interested in these sliders as well.

Yeah man, I do not screw around with all these car chemicals. Always have my gloves and eye protection, and a respirator for aerosols. Already have bad asthma…don’t want to make it worse.

Will update once the install is done. I’m sure it’s gonna be a PITA, but the end result should be worth it.

This guy has a pretty good video for the KDSS version of these, which is what I bought.

@CleggyZ28 Nice lookin' rig, congrats!!! Which LEDs did you go for, that looks like a dramatic improvement.
I tested 2 diff LED low beam bulbs and was unimpressed....

PS, you need moar stuff in that garage ;)

I went with the Fahren LEDs H11 low beams and 9005 high beams. They even applied more if a discount if you use the coupon. Took longer to zip tie the extra ballast/canbus and attempt to reuse the plastic tabs for all the engine plastic covers. driver's side was a little difficult due to the fan on the end of the lights and being close to the battery. also be sure to check that they're oriented right, ( I I ) beam pattern, had to redo the passenger side.

We'll see how they hold up long term, but so far very impressed with them.

Found them from KYT LYFE's video, pretty straight forward walkthru.

Made DIY adjustable rear sway bar endlinks. These are $18 Moog links with 5/8" coupling nuts and a 4" length of all thread. Perfect fit for the endlink diameter. Please ignore the flux core welding aesthetics :). The lower bead was completed in 4 steps to avoid melting the rubber boot. I might add jam nuts later.

Wash, clay bar, wash, wax. Now every imperfections really shows.
