Non-nav conversion + new backup camera installed. Replaced the cigarette lighter with a USB port for CarPlay / android auto. Will add pictures and details to the non-nav conversion thread tomorrow.

huge thanks to @ZIDCONPRO! His extension harness for the hvac controls made the head unit install a breeze.

the backup camera was a nightmare to install. Trying to push the rca cable through the little rubber wire loom on the trunk door suuucked. The 3rd row AC unit is all in the way of trying to access the loom from the interior. Also opted to pull the trim panels on the passenger side in the trunk to run the wires for the back up camera “properly”.

huge fan of the Sony xav-ax5500. Huge fan of the support from crutchfield. Never did any sort of car audio work before, and an employee walked my dumbass through all the wiring for the harnesses and the head unit.

all in all…incredible learning experience and real happy to have CarPlay.

Hey this is neat, i was wondering what people do with the running board lights when they delete the running boards. Can you show me how you mounted yours?
Here are a couple of snaps... Just screwed them in with some self tappers stainless steel

Very nice! Have you or anyone else written up the parts needed for this conversion (and the best place to find them)? Are there more harnesses being made sold?

Also, looking for these clips, anyone know where I can find a PN? I can't locate them on the parts sheets.

This thread has a lot of good info about the parts needed, how to test the HVAC controls, and some wiring diagrams. My understanding is that the GXOR FB group has the best and most detailed info for the process as the guy who pioneered the mod primarily uses that FB group. I don’t have FB, though. So I haven’t seen it.

I messaged @ZIDCONPRO directly to order the harness. He was awesome to work with, and the harness removes otherwise tedious step of extending 8 wires and unbundling cables.

Just got my Dobinsons C59-701V rear springs from Exit Offroad and swapped them in. They replace the C59-677Vs I had in there before. 677v setup sat almost perfectly level (all corners within 1/4") with the new rear bumper, swingout, and rear drawers with no other cargo. Stepped up to the 701v to get some rake back since I wasn't a fan of the saggy rear look when I had any passengers or cargo.

701v brought the rear height back to what it was before I installed the heavy rear bumper. Hopefully the higher spring rate will keep me off my bump stops a little as well. As of now, the rear is just under 2" higher than the front with the 701v. I expect it to settle maybe 1/4-1/2" or so after I put some miles on the new springs, which will land me exactly where I want. If you have no rear armor and carry 150ish lbs constant load, the 677v is great (comfortable empty, loaded and gives almost 3" lift). Once you add a steel bumper with a swingout and full size spare, the 701v is the way to go.

For reference, I am running Bilstein 6112s with 700lb springs up front (highest setting on drivers side, second highest passenger side) with an Ironman bumper and 12k lb synthetic rope winch.

Is that trim piece around the double DIN an OEM part? I've only seen aftermarket options and the color is never right.

I got one just like that from Crutchfield. Color matched perfectly. Looks very OEM.

I ordered my non nav climate control unit and harness from @ZIDCONPRO too. He tests the harness and sends you a video. Everything arrived as promised but I haven’t installed and tested myself since I’m waiting for other parts before I finish my dash rebuild. Will update once I’m done.

Does the rear DVD player still work after the conversion?

Started cleaning and swapping over parts to the new dash this morning before the bbq

Good job!

by the end of July, I will also get a new black dashboard, I bought a non-OEM dashboard. I want to see the quality of the manufacture of this dashboard. If I like it, I will probably make an announcement about the sale on this forum, the price with delivery will be much cheaper than the OEM dashboard.

also on the way to me are lenses for headlights, if someone wants to replace their yellowed and cloudy lenses on their headlights, then this is the best solution. As soon as I get these lenses, I will make an advertisement about the sale.

Finished up from mid range and 6x9s in front doors. Slim 800w sub mounted under driver seat. New UCAs got bushings and serts installed and greased. Diff drop kit will go on when UCAs are installed in a few days. Sprayed the front skid plate. Not sure I like the silver.
