Drove up to Yankee Boy Basin from Ouray, CO, parked at 11,600 ft, and hiked to 13,000 ft at Blue Lakes Pass. Not a bad 37th birthday! I'll post real DSLR pics from our family Durango/Moab/Ouray vacation when we get back home. The GX continues to impress and we have yet to scrape a rock slider or encounter anything near the ragged limits of it's capability. We've also been out-wheeling a lot of rigs costing 3-4x as much with my wife spotting us in the rough stuff. Engineer Pass is tomorrow, then the long drive home across Kansas. Absolutely gorgeous county... Wishing I could have stayed in Colorado (just moved away from Denver)

Well today I was able to get together with my buddy and install my new White Knuckle Sliders. My stock steps faithfully served as protection while wheeling and waiting for the sliders to come in. It was stated an 8 to 10 week lead and it was right on the money time wise.

Shipping was prompt and they arrived in good shape and well packed too. OH These things are beef too! 65lbs a piece if its an ounce!

It was fun getting the stock steps off... the brackets might have been damaged a bit LOL but again they were the sacrificial lambs to the trail gods. They took the beating so the rockers didn't.

Instructions could use some better descriptions but there were a few videos online that helped and well it isn't rocket science to figure these out either.

Started off on the Drivers side...

Look at all that clearance already LOL nothing like trimming the low hanging fruit!

and the slider ready to go on...

Staged and ready to get bolted in...

bolted in and looks good and its solid...

next came the Passenger side...

once that side was done ... we trimmed the stock steps to give it a finished look... it is a Lexus after all!!

so it is all done and looking pretty good. It really makes it look like a truck now and not a soccer mom mobile that got lost on the way to Starbucks!!

Next will install some rock lights using the factory step harness. Waiting on connectors to arrive so I can plug them in or out to change them or replace them. I figure it is better then soldering them in place.

It's amazing and worth the 1200 mile drive for us!

You'll like (and need) the cooler. We just got back from CO/UT, and had to work very hard to keep the trans temp below 220F on several passes. It barely exceeded 190F on the passes we could run in 4th gear with the converter locked (despite the AC on and 4-5,000+ ft of climbing), but on the twistier ones we had to run in 3rd and 2nd gear (when the transmission won't lock up) the temp started going up and up. I ran a few of the dirt passes in 4LO which also seemed to help as it got up to 215F climbing in 1st gear, 4HI at 10-15 mph. We never actually had to stop specifically for a cool-down, just modify the driving behavior to keep it below 220F. This was with maybe 1,000 lbs of people and cargo. The factory cooler is undersized for mountain driving.

Everything lined up perfectly. No issues at all. I’m anal and I take my time. Took me about 3 hours total. Including re route of trans lines.
Awesome work!!!

I previously read how some experienced minor issues with radiator not being lined up exactly and having to use spacers or bracket. Mind sending me link to the one you bought?

Happy 4th of July!!! Beer, brats, n fireworks!

It’s a thing of beauty. It’s a shame it’s covered. No issues at all. You just need the Koyo cap. Hit up Brennan at Apache Offroad. He’ll get you hooked up. Tell him Myke sent you!

Nicely done! I have a similar setup (Demello bumper, smittybilt winch, Hayden 678 cooler) and everything's such a tight fit. In the near future I plan on doing the same as you with the upgraded Koyo radiator and I will also re route the power steering cooler with a 4x4 labs unit.

Yea definitely had to manipulate the a/c and steering lines for the bumper and winch. It wasn’t too bad. But definitely tight with everything in there.

Got the dashboard out and entire blower assembly. Replacing dashboard, all four servo motors, and running some power wires through the cab.

No need to remove the steering wheel but put your key in and extend it all the way out and down before you disconnect the battery. Then twist and remove the dashboard out the passenger side. One man job.

Well installed the basic Amazon rock lights on the factory harness.... I must say I am impressed... set up the harness with connectors so if I need to switch one out or change them all up I can do it easily. A bit more work but it will be worth it in the long run.

Hey this is neat, i was wondering what people do with the running board lights when they delete the running boards. Can you show me how you mounted yours?
