Couldn't wait until tomorrow, got the driverside backing plate off. Sawzall works better than a grinder.

OK, how many pieces do YOU have to cut a backing plate into before it comes off?

Flew to Tucson, AZ and drove the pig home 450 miles yesterday.

:grinpimp:

I'll start up a thread here eventually. I'm still too giddy and emotional to talk about it.

Sorry to take the thread a few weeks back in time, but that's a nice ride! Same color as the one I'm holding out for - only older vintage (71). Makes me long even more for Spring!

Can't wait to get in there and start wrenching!!!

Forgot to paint my Poser RDB brackets...everything is on hold while the basic black rustoleum dries...

Almost looks like rear disc brakes...

Random question for you pighead. When you went SOA did you put in an add a leaf. I only ask because your springs look good there and I am going to go SOA this spring and am wondering if the add-a-leaf is really necessary. Thanks man

Add a leaf will help with Axle wrap from twisting forces, If your not running a anti wrap bars or a good ladder bar what ever you want to call it. You can keep all your articulation if you leave the add a leafs out. Without one are both your going to have alittle axle hop and vibration.

even with add a leafs, you can get some serious axle wrap...ask me how i know;)

I plan on fabing a anti wrap bar. Just trying to see if add-a-leafs are worth messing with. My springs are pretty good, they aren't sagging much at all. So maybe I can get away with no add-a-leafs, we'll see.

Actually, years ago, before the SOA, I had the rear springs re-arched. I asked for one more leaf to be added, but they had enough steel to make 2 extra leaves for each side.

The more I looked at my new RDBs, and the brakehose routing, the less I liked it.
So I figured out how, with just a little grinding, I could make them fit the other way.
So I did.
