In the roofing section of Lowes and Home Depot they sale Easy Patch for tin roofs, It the same stuff as Dynamat and it only $14 for a 25' roll. I just uesd it to line My 93 Dodge 5.9 cummins and you can hardly hear the 6bt now that its in. Just a tip for anyone that wants to Dynamat that want to save a few bucks.

Buy the way the radio sounds so much better too.

A lot of guys do like the roofing material. I'm not a fan of having asphalt in my vehicles, so I went with the purpose built sound deadening. There is some peel and stick stuff that is made with butyl, (similar materials to the major sound deadening companies) that seems to work well. It was worth the extra coin to me to get the real stuff. Wasn't that much more. :meh:

Htown, Does that stuff smell at all? I have not tried it but have read that it puts off a nasty odor for a while. I still need to do a little more and would like to try that.

Cheers,

Sal

I used the same stuff in my jeep about 4 months ago and it really help all i did to get it to stop smelling is unroll it and leave it for a week, or how ever long it took to stop smelling. I was going to use the Quick Roof for my moms vw bug that she is "restoring" (me) she is just funding the project as it was her first car, to quiet the air cold engine roar.

This stuff has no smell at all. It's the vary stuff as Dynamate, just packaged differently. It's in a roll 25' by 8" it has the metal on top and the sticky rubber sticky backing. No SMELL! I have a dynamatt sample and they look just alike. It's called easy patch, you can cut it and stick it over holes in a tin roof. My cousin had it in his Dodge and it really works. so I put it in my truck I'm going to take a pic and post it. I got mine at LOWES

Yeah, there are a lot of products out there at the hardware store. I just went yesterday and found some similar stuff to put down in my rear cargo area and as a second layer on the floorboards. $40 for a 9 inch by 75 foot roll of weather seal stuff for your windows and flashings areas. I am not near any big stores so I just found the stuff at the local.

By the way Htown, Dooood! That rig is looking good. How can you possibly wheel that thing? Ha!

Finally got the pack of shims for the TC rear bearing retainer... I put in 11 shims!!! Basically two packs of the four different sizes that you can buy from Toyota, plus two .25 mil ones and the one that was in there before the rebuild (no idea what size). I am sceptical that something is not right, but I have checked and rechecked that everything is correct on the output shaft inside the box... I put it all together last night (25 degrees F, laying on plywood over ice in the driveway). The bearing preload is less than 10 lbs, but more than 2, but I still am not sure if the bearing retainer is completely pushing on the rear output bearing. Put the driveshafts on at 0500 AM in 22 degree darkness and ran out of fluid to fill the case.... @#%$$#. So, gotta wait till after work to fill the cases and test drive...

Anyone have a three speed case to sell in case I blew it? Ha (not so funny)

Pulled the engine just to find out that the engine stand that i am using does not work with the toyota motor:bang::bang::bang::bang:
So i do not know what to do now???

what did you expect w/ a pig!!! Gotta be smarter than the steel.....bend it, punch holes in it melt it together and somehow get it to bolt up to the back of the block...IOW, customize your engine stand.

Yeah what he said.... or just put a tarp down and do it on the ground... He he he... (that's laughin with you NOT at you buddy) :D

If it weren't challenging it wouldn't be so fun... or you could just get a new CJ.

At my house, I finally got to road test the new rebuilt TC and it seems to be fine, after all the worry. It still has a pretty good whine in high gear right at acceleration... but I can live with it. The Dynamat helped a little. I know I am done with the TC because the headlight switch seems to have crapped this morning... off to the next item.... :steer:

NIIICE Brewtus! We really haven't had snow in Tahoe since late December. We got a couple inches two days ago, but thats not snow.... I'll post a photo of the next two foot dumper. THAT's when it's fun driving in the snow! I do feel for ya though. I'm already tired of the winter. Been laying on the ground too much under the pig this month.

Keep the heater on high!
