Posted some pictures of my freshly refurbished rear axle. (This really is a cry for help, someone... please?) It's finally ready to go back onto the truck (after I clean the rear frame area...duh)

Id just hang that on the wall to stare at...

When is this thing going to get done? It is just going to get dirty anyway.

Dang it, Steve. That is exactly the kind of statement that will drive him back underground for another year.:slap:

Mike, nobody's going to put dirt on your truck, it's okay. Easy boy, there there, go finish your truck.:flipoff2::grinpimp:

- Vais XM radio - to factory stereo and tidied up in the glove box
- Vais Aux input - to factory stereo (for phone music mostly) - kinda ghetto as I still have to run a cable to the phone, but I was so turned off by the quality of Bluetooth streaming on my Kenwood HU that I went for sound quality over aesthetics. Too many hiccups, stutters and such for my tastes. Not sure if a phone issue, HU issue, or just inherent to BT streaming. Anyway, the units integrate nicely with the factory stereo, retain OEM Bluetooth call functionality, and give decent info on-screen for the XM stations. Only drawback is limit of 10 presets on XM.
- Ran XM antenna from in front of upper hatch to glove box.
- Resurrected the non-functioning DVD changer in console.
- New 295/75/16 Nitto TG's. Swapped out the 18's for more sidewall.
- TJM T-3 bumper moved over from the '00 to the '04
- Slee Step Sliders moved over from the '00 to the '04
- Adjusted t-bars for new weight and correct ride height (netted slight lift in front)
- Alignment - Camelback Toyota
- Timing belt/Water pump/Tensioner/misc pulleys/axle seal - Camelback Toyota, no evidence it had ever been done at 186k
- Replaced AC evaporator cover with one that has slot for filters, fixed drip, and cleaned out ten years of crap from the evaporator. Smells mucho better, and doesn't drip stinky water on passenger's legs now. Plus I now have cabin air filters!
- New Seat Covers in front (SOR Tuff Duck) <- will likely swap out soon.
- Pro-Clip Phone mount. <- love this on the new dash ('03+, not so much on the '98-'02 as it COMPLETELY blocks the life-support vent)
- New brake lights.
- New windshield wipers and rain-x, since it's monsoon time and I'll use 'em for a half dozen times this year before they rot away in the sun like they do every year...

Ready for a 6,000 mile road trip!

- New 295/75/16 Nitto TG's. New tires drive so sweet. 3rd set of the TG's in that size I've had on this rig. Great on road, decent off-road, decent-enough mileage, and a relatively light tire for a 33"+ size. Promptly put ~15 miles of off road and rocks outside of Heber on them, then ~30 miles of the crappy FR 708 road into Fossil Creek via Camp Verde. They don't have that new-tire smell anymore. :(
- Put the bumper from the '04 onto it as well as the running boards. Too much protesting from the shorter members of my family about getting in/out.
- New cabin AC filters.
- Removed defective XM module from the Kenwood unit. It's pre-merger, so I need some weird adapter cable to the Kenwood it appears. Will probably leave it out and just use my phone.

Now my bank account needs to rest...
 to Camelback for great service, and great parts!

I looked at my 80... Started it...Drove it to get coffee...Parked it and need to refill with freon. The wife took the 100 to Northern California...Summer sucks in Arizona sometimes....Especially when you don't have a boat. Sorry I'm bitchin

I am jealous, sounds like fun, and evidently out of the loop. Where are you going Rob?:hmm:

I put my new insurance card in the glove compartment

I watched my battery charge from 10v to 16v before ordering a new OEM alternator and cursing the 80's gods and my bank account for being $300 shy of a Sequoia 150A/PhotoMan alternator upgrade.

Don't be putting Freon in your cruiser that's the good stuff that isn't used in the later 80 series. You need DuPont Suva 134A or a generic that they can get paid royalties off of. You can also escape the desert heat and not leave the state. But that's a secret that doesn't need to get out, too many people here already.:bang:

How did you fix the DVD changer?

Do you have any photos of the phone mount?

Where all are you going on your trip?

Not entirely sure, but had the head unit out and unplugging connector multiple times to program the emulation mode and daisy-chain the Vais units together, along with mucho banging on the center console. Just started playing CD's. But honestly, does anyone use CD's anymore??? I would rather have the console space back...
Do you have any photos of the phone mount?

Not handy of mine, but will get one soon, but looks just like this. VERY solid and puts the phone right where you want it.

...Where are you going Rob?:hmm:

Lap-o'-the-USA... To the East Coast for a bit to visit family. Cruiser already left. Various family members leaving/returning in waves due to work, etc.

the east coast is overrated  (I lived in CT for more than 4 years before coming to AZ)

shhh, don't tell my wife. Both sides of her family go back to Jamestown, 1607...

Hiccup in today's install, worn pinion shaft. Bummer.

Replaced alternator with Toyota reman. Did Big 3 2 AWG upgrade to the most inconvenient pre-threaded frame hole. Finally reporting 14.3V on the ScanGauge II!
