Since my CB radio broke, I havent replaced it since Ive switched to Ham. While it is great, I miss out on some conversation on trail runs with the CB folks.
Being that I often like to be tailgunner in group runs, it would like to be better informed on the goings on and run with both Cb and Ham.
So.. I picked up a handheld Cobra unit that is supposed to be good for up to 4 miles and will easily move from rig to rig. It should be just fine for what I am looking for: close range trail communications.

Link to where you got it. I have a couple I could piece together but they are designed to be permanently mounted. Like the option and being able to carry in different vehicles.

Not really on the cruiser per se, but I did finish my cabinet installation for the purpose of storing parts/tools for the cruiser so that counts right?

Did that come with a charge cord you can use to recharge in the car?

My CB is about 20 years old and I keep bustng the exterior antenna so this is appealing for me in terms of simplity and use. Did you get it on line or in town and if online do you have the link?

$5 yard sale find, probably dates back to the 70's and it still works!

Cars in the garage what a great concept

Why the hate for garage parking? What goes with garage parking is working on vehicles in a garage. Spent to many years working in driving and in the dirt. Currently have a cooler, working on A/C.

Don't know enough about CBs to know what the differences are. What the difference with this one and the Cobra with the external antenna as well as the one on the radio? Plus the Midland that's less than half the price? Just curious of the differences it's not like it's a major purchase.

My last garage was too cluttered to do any work easily. I'm not going down that same path again with this garage. I would also like to AC my garage but I'm concerned with the cost.

it's against code these days to run the house A/C into the garage - we have HVAC ducts to the garage in the new-to-us house that we need to close off to become compliant - one-hour fire rating required on the block-off plates

you could use a portable A/C independent from the house

No hate, I would love to get a car in one of my garages.
I even took over my neighbors 900sq/ft cover carport.

The cost of running A/C or up front cost of the unit and install? I all ready have a unit to install. Biggest draw back is most garages aren't insulated. Cost of running A/C it going to b much higher if it isn't insulated. Until It's insulated I'll the cooler until the monsoon starts and then call it quits until it dry outs.

Don't believe it's a new code but rather a PO did a non permitted installed. Not sure if I kept all my code books when I retired otherwise I'd check. My books were from when I took code classes in the late nineties. Believe it exhaust fumes and not just fire rating that prevent house duct being run to the garage. Metal duct and automatic fire damper would solve the fire rating issue. The garage I plan to install A/C is a second detached garage. None of those codes apply. Garage has a sub panel so biggest issue it adjusting the garage door to seal tight and insulating the door.
