Yes, it is over $100 bucks a can now though!

With the small cab I can honestly tell you that as cold as it blows, I have to turn it down sometimes.

What size can cost $100? I didn't factor the cost of R12 but not that worried. Did I mention I did HVAC for a few years and might know someone with a little.

As for cab I'm thinking my 45 cab might even be a little smaller and cool better then a FJ40.;)

Back in the mid seventies I rode in a 73 FJ40 with air here in the valley. It's the reason I never really looked into putting air into my old 68.

I hate you :flipoff2:

Why the hate, doesn't the Lexus have air? The blue 40 doesn't need air while it sits patiently at Tools Spa, practically begs to only be out in the cool winter wheeling....in 6 more months. The comforts of an 80 Series are just to hard to give up, in Arizona

you are just jealous that I still have a 40 :p :flipoff2:

Does anyone know which wire I can tap into for reverse? This is the key part, I need both the wire color for the back connector of the vehicle and also the wire color for the PRNDL. The reason I am asking this is two-fold, I just bought an aftermarket reverse cam that im going to wire up to the new head unit I installed, and second to my reverse floods (LEDs that replace the spoiler). I want to figure out how to wire these as cleanly as possible.

I used a wire going into the ECU on our hundred to indicate reverse. It's more convenient than the others. For the rear of the vehicle tap the reverse lights wire, or my plan (I still have to do this but have been slacking) is to make it so that I can use the camera without being in reverse for checking on my tow. I wanna add a front camera too and be able to select between them.

This one Nick: (01 LX 470)

ECU is behind the glove box.

Landtank seat extension plus Murf and his CBT crew on installation = :D:D:D

Goldy at 6'5" looked pretty happy with 2" more leg room. Eric (Pitch) at what? 6'9" must already have these I am guessing...

There is no more factory heater. This is a AC/Heater combo unit. I just need to activate the heater control valve which sends hot water through the evaporator for heat.

Got it from here > http://www.oldairproducts.com/catal...0-series-c-1_32000000_38000000_120132097.html

Ive had this same unit through 2 summers now and can tell you it blows super cold. People look at me funny when its 110* out and Im driving a 40 around with the windows up ;). The secret is the largest AC condensor that Phil could find was put into the rig (see below) when he owned it. He also put a excellent custom fan shroud in it for max air pull. With the small cab I can honestly tell you that as cold as it blows, I have to turn it down sometimes.

it fits nicely in the middle bottom portion of the 40's dash

replaced the under dash Old Air AC evaporator unit. The old unit had a bad rheostat, fan motors were getting noisy, and getting over a decade old.

The new unit works great, R12 is getting very pricey but it blows super cold :D

Where did you get your replacement?

Sounds like I'm not the only one who has a few boxes of parts tucked away. What was this off of? I picked up a couple of large tubs of FJ62 parts off CL only because the price was too good to pass up. That was years ago and not sure I used any of it yet. Just the power antenna is worth double what I paid for everything. I just consider it insurance, if I have a spare the original will never fail. Makes sense to me.

wish i was better at taking pictures as i work; would make for more interesting posts...but finished water pump on my FJ80 this weekend. I have pieces left over, but it seems to be working just fine ;)

the pieces I have left are actually the bracket for an idler pulley that wasn't there below the power steering pump. at some point in time someone removed it, so I didn't see any point in putting the bracket and slide adjuster for a missing pulley back on. found the lower radiator hose I got didn't fit, so I cut a spare upper I had and it worked just fine. I couldn't get the water pump inlet house out, so it still original and covered in oil.

now on to the the distributor, plugs, wires, and see if i can figure out why it's been running rough when it warms up. anyone that's bored and wants to help is welcome!

The actuator is from an after market alarm with power door locks set that I bought over 20 years ago.

Straight custom hack job for me Murf. I have manual seats, so I was able to make brackets for 4 extra inches… I don't even use the full rail anymore (until I can get a telescoping steering wheel).

I think he actually sits in the second row seat and drives - thus the need for a telescoping steering wheel
