Thank 572cid sounds nice. But the plugs still go out when it gets wet. I could see myself breaking more parts as well every time i tapped too hard on the throttle :hillbilly:

For Murf;
I should be fine with the emissions. I dont think anyone really cares too much in this state. As long as you pass the sniffer test or the obd2 test. Now if you live in California...
Ive also read that as long as the vehicle was mfg. with a diesel as an option from factory, your good to go.
The number 1 reason to go this route. I already have everything from the first attempt to install the diesel.
I know all the gauges will work with the new compushift II computer. I send him my old wiring harness and he edits it to work with the Cummins sensors. its plug and play.
It also comes with a TPS thats controlls the throttle. so it should be fine with the CC.

Ill keep you all updated. Tax season is just around the corner.

agreed, 350k is a lot of miles to just slap a HG on it. It is an interesting kit and looks pretty good as an alternative. I know the 5.9's can be had reasonably
Questions would be : what about emissions? how hard to pass with this conversion / does DMV care? are you out of Maricopa county so it doesn't matter?
What about cruise control, OBDII, speedo, tach? All work accurately after conversion?

interested in seeing where this goes...please post up more info as you go.

I have talked with the refs down at EPA and was told a cummins 6bt is an illegal conversion. Reason being is the engine was never offered in an SUV or any 1/2 ton vehicle. But if you reg it in a non emissions area you can reg it haha. All my rigs are reg in rio Rico

Its been more then just a week, but I got a company vehicle, so my LX is no longer my DD, so this weekend I was finally able ro install my OME lift and now I am going to start designing and build bumpers. Install went pretty easy other then breaking the DS rear bolt :(, but I was able to extract it no problems. It took longer to get a new bolt then to get it out.

Last week someone broke into my LX , Luckily the only thing they took was a $10 paper notebook:meh:. I think they were looking for money and/or personal info.

Did some muddin' around Heber, most of you know I'm trying to get more wheel time experience... mud is scary! I feared if I stopped I would get stuck! Hahaha. This section was very light but still you see how the mud ruts just pull you all over! Fun day and no, I never got stuck. Hooray for skinny MT's!!!!

I kinda want to get stuck, just to get the experience on how to figure getting out of it.

Assuming you do get out without paying someone. Thinking back the times being stuck I remember the ones I paid for the most.

so what would your advice be? If i never get stuck, how will I deal with it in an unexpected situation?

same spot from below: you can still see the hole I fell into with the LX on the driver side - no such problems with the 40 :steer:

the 100-series is such a large vehicle, i constantly get anxiety about sliding down off the side of a trail. Whereas i see murf in his 40 just go anywhere like its nothing.

got caught up in the rear disc upgrade fever...

Got more wheel time in the mud today around Christopher Creek, AZ and if you haven't been muddin' with your rig it's crazy fun.

We went up a crazy steep mud hill that I've done dry in the summer. Note to self: "Not the same hill when wet!

The boss, "I didn't think we were gonna make it up--what was the plan if we didn't get up?" Me: "Plan B? There was no Plan B." hahaha.
