Here is some Rally driving lights SAE-Y-88 which make them approved 1988 and period correct.

If I ran driving and fog lights would mount them like this but not a fan of lights above the hood line. Other options would be on the face of the bumper or drill holes and in front of the turn signals.

Or if I really wanted to make a statement do it like this.

Amber and Rally lights work. Aris (which have covers) and Lexan driving lights would need some work as none of them are currently working. Both date to 1981.

I agree, like the way it sits right now. May install one of the original round ones then compare how bright each one is side my side on the inside of the garage door.

I located a spare rear window defrost switch that fits a blank in the center of the dash. Plug next to the dimmer switch left of the steering wheel is too short. Search comtinues for a fog light switch that will fit the narrow hole. Have only found a listing for the rear fog light switch which appears to fit in the taller blanks in the middle

Spend some time today checking on boots and shifters on my 79 FJ40.

My wife brought our black Pomeranian Cody ( nicknamed "Little Buddy") for a visit in my garage.

A little over a year ago we had six Pomeranians we got from our kids. We lost three of them in a little over a year. Decided Little Buddy and I should play hooky and take time to smell the roses ( go for a ride in the forest) while he is still with us.

Drove down a forest road I haven't driven down in years. Found trail taking off the end of the road that looked very interesting.

I hiked by foot a half or mile so. Looks like a interesting trail which I believe I know where it comes out on the trailer closer to the start. Before the travel maps started many of the quad trails in the area were so popular the forest service numbered them. First few years of the travel map a few were still on the map while other FS roads that had been there for years were not. Most have been removed from the map and traditional FS roads on it now. Shame because some of the quad trails were challenging in my FJ62. Pretty much everything left could probably drive a Camry on without damage.:(

I see your FJ40 is sporting a new license plate. So where did all this wood end up? What happened to the trailer you had. Would have saved a bunch of loads.

Still waiting for the folks to get back from their European vacation before I get the vintage plates.:hmm: Still have the trailer, this area is too tight and steep to mess with it. Easier just to haul it home this way, it will end up eventually in our wood stove.

Rock fall! Poking around the rim country with cameras south of Flagstaff yesterday we were lucky to see a big slab of wall break off and fall. I had been photographing that very section - the tree in the crack on the right hand side of the frame, and was able to get a lens on the slab fall about three seconds later. Big sound broke the silence. Then a big dust cloud. But first, a requisite Cruiser shot.

Not in a LC but seen a herd of probably two hundred elk yesterday. Guessing the same herd I spotted the morning heading out to last month's run in my FJ62. Really need to get a better camera for long distance shots. Have a small bull and very large bull also with a few cows roaming the subdivision seen a few times. Also a small hers of deer with two small bucks and two large ones. Problem is the dogs barking alerts up to them being there which also alerts them to our presence.
