Installed EGT probe, MAP sensor, and plumbed it all into Lutz auto monitor screen that replaces factory clock. Great pic of kit, was a bitt fiddly to get it to fit wihout breaking plastic, but all was good! Its currently not running in the photos, which is why it has negative temp. Did some adjustment on IP pump and everything is happy still.

Hey, great idea starting this thread! It’s always interesting to hear what others are working on, from the simple maintenance to the big rebuilds. Tearing down a 1HD-T sounds like a solid project — that’s a reliable engine but definitely rewarding to rebuild right. Today I was busy swapping out injectors on my older Cummins and cleaning the turbo—basic stuff but it keeps the engine running smoothly. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is up to with their diesels!
I have both a Hilux (5L NA 3 liter) and a '97 Dodge with 12V Cummins.

Been watching YT vids on aftermarket mods of conventional turbos conversion to a "switch blade" turbo. Basically similar in goal/results to a variable geometry turbo?

One of my future mods to my Hilux would be to add a turbo to it.

Did timing belt and water pump. Maybe the easiest WP and belt I have ever done. I did it because of time not mileage, rig was very clean under everything.
I see a new idler there too. Well done!

Brake Lines, BP-51, breather hose, New AC clutch (that wasn't fun). Took rig up just a dirt road to go on a mtn bike ride with the missus, did the same road the day before with old suspension. Pretty dang good upgrade, very wallowy on tarmac.

I had my @Air Down Gear Up drawer/kitchen system installed today at their brand new location in Littleton Colorado. The quality is next level and they are the coolest buch of guys to hangout with 😎 Can't wait to load up my gear and get @OutInCreation

Drove my 95 hdj80 from Sudbury to Whistler BC. Left at 10:15am Friday and entered Whistler in time for lunch Sunday.
Grabbed a cold beer to celebrate with my son.
I then had him start the inner axle seal job on his hdj81, and buttoned her up in time for him to go to work.
Spent Monday at an alpine lake to fish with my son, always enjoyable. Our electric mountain bikes really help pack the miles, my arse feels like smashed pumpkin.
Yesterday it was my turn to replace a rear brake line on his rig while he was in Vancouver for a ball tournament... trouble shot the cdl. Just as I suspected the sensor was tired, and luckily I happened to have four spares to choose from. Today could be the horn issue.

Strictly speaking this is not something I did to my diesel today, but....

This is my 94 troopy. It came with a 1FZ-F (4.5 liter carburated). The engine was running ok and I've done water pump and gotten a new carburetor, but this truck really should have a diesel in it. So yesterday I told the guys at PowerTec that I wanted to swap in a 1HZ and they surprised me by immediately jumping into it because the truck was still on the rack from the major transmission, transfer case, front and rear diff and all four axels and brake work.
And today when I came into the shop I saw the 1FZ was already out!

Not pretty but a solid runner.

Fortunately I ended up with a spare, already rebuilt 1HZ sitting in mothballs.

It has been completely gone through by PowerTec and is ready to run. But I plan to add a mild turbocharger to it. No more than .7 bar. A conservative Safari kit provided by a good friend here in Dubai. Really looking forward to seeing how the troopy does with the lovely diesel burbling under the hood!

I will be using them in Winter time.
Otherwise, I would have recommended to built in the back 'habitat' instead of storage. Similar to what most people build in the troopy of what CampTeq offers. It's a different experience.
