As expected it was making the factory 8psi boost. Which after seeing it on a guage suddenly became insuficient after 5 years of owning it. So I added a manual boost controller and bumped it up to 15psi. Wow what a difference!!

I thought I was pushing the envelope buy turning mine up to 10psi.

Are there instructions online discussing boost levels and how to adjust? Tapatalk search sucks!

I have a small hole in my exhaust which seems to me a sign that I need to replace it with either a 2 1/2 or 3 inch system. Any thoughts on which is preferred?

BJ74 Passed Virginia State Inspection. They must be getting old and tired.

I have had the taste of power and their is no going back!! Lol..... Seriously though I was more just experimenting and deciding if it was worth upgrading my Turbo. The boost controller I stole off my HDJ81 will not go below 15psi but the boost takes a while to get there. The stock "over-boost" light will only come on for a moment. Seams to spike and then drop a pound.

Here is the boost controller I used. Really simple to install. Basically just T's in with a one way check valve (blue T hidden behind hoses) between the boost port and the wastegate actuator. Make sure its installed after the T (white plastic) for the boost gauge. The controller is just a valve that controls how much pressure goes to the wastegate and vents the extra pressure out. All its doing is tricking the wastegate into opening later. Excuse the lazy install and lack of hose clamps. This was just an experiment and not going to be permanent

Nope. Screwed all the way in. Which should be closed and have zero effect. I am assuming its leaking past a bad seal

I'm going through all this at the moment with my brother's BJ74. Had a custom 3" exhaust made to clear his aftermarket auxiliary tank (exits at the right rear corner, rather than crossing to the left rear corner), fitted a new aftermarket wastegate actuator which comes with 6 different springs for different boost levels.

The one I fitted was the mambatek 023-0133 ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/171734296451?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT ) however the actuator rod was about 7mm too short, I wonder if the Kinugawa 309-02059-010 ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/281669596852?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 ) wouldn't be a better choice.

I've bought (but not yet fitted) forefront industries digital boost and EGT gauges, I chose them because they're about the smallest units I could find, each gauge is about the size of a matchbox.

Once the pyro is in, time to start tweaking the fuel pump.

The other thing I've got my eye on is the Mamba upgraded CT26 turbo, basically grafts a more modern and higher capacity compressor wheel onto the front of a CT26 which should bolt up without any mods. ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/181718374499?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 )

@hotgemini have you seen these gauges? I have one in my HDJ81 and they are even a little smaller then the ones you are looking at. Plus they got some cool extra features like built in alarms
