LJ73 or KZJ73? I can't see leaf springs, so I'm thinking it's a lightweight from Europe as they did get them like that.

New rebuilt steering box installed. I had some issues with the pressure line leaking…. that was sorted with new brass seats.

I’ve bled the system, but it still seems a bit stiff and hard to turn the steering wheel.

I lifted the front end and turned the wheel side to side with the reservoir cap off. Any tips assuming the lines just aren’t bled well?

I don’t have the details. I purchased a “rebuilt” unit from Cruiser Parts. I originally posted that it was from Cruiser Outfitters, but that was an error.

Probably wasn't rebuilt. And only resealed. None of the internal components for that era steering gear box are available anymore from anywhere. CruiserParts are pretty notorious schisters.

With that "Turbo" decal there it is always a LJ , KZJ didn't get the Turbo decal on the sides nor the Turbo embroidery on the seats like the LJ

What are the options then if one need a new steering gear box from that era? I guess some configurations are easier to get than others.

Hey Matt: Buy the later iteration from Toyota which is still available new. And a corresponding new pitman arm as well. You get an upgraded sector shaft as well with a thicker diameter. It’s a great upgrade.

These parts are for RHD trucks:

Thank you Onur. This is great information.

Shims in from Partsouq. They used to ship so fast but damn the last few orders have taken forever. Anyone else experiencing that?

Hello,

I completed registration renewal for this year for my trucks. What a relief.

I took the chance to have Chance's windows polished.

And for anyone not sure on the value, a truck with new suspension bushings, new tie rod/drag link ends and a new steering box plus an appropriate toe-in and caster, drives very very nicely - not all over the road and sloppy like many of us have become accustomed to and view as part of driving an old truck.

I can second this.
