There's a group from Bozeman heading that way tomorrow, I'm sure they'd be happy to meet up with you there. Unfortunately I can't go so I figured I'd check it out today since I was driving past.
When I bought my KZJ 78 it had already fallen victim to the Japanese trend of attaching everything, including cupholders, to the AC vents on the dash. As a result out of four I only had two intact. Unfortunately the one just to the right of the steering wheel was out of production. I decided to take a chance and order two of the left passenger ones to see if I could borrow the guts (moveable vent portion) from one of them to replace the guts in the out of production one. It worked like a charm and I now can look across my dash and see all four vents intact. I guess it's a small thing but it made me happy and it was nice to be able to figure out on my own a solid workaround for an out of production part. Last week I managed to get a new rear wiper motor and arm assembly installed. The old motor still worked but had no arm and had to be replaced when a rusted on nut broke. Now I just have to figure out how to get the rear wiper sprayer working. I think it needs a new pump.
Replaced the heater blower resistor, the lowest two settings on the AC fan suddenly stopped working. After pulling out the old resistor I can see why. There was all kinds of lint, a pine needle or two and dust/dirt around the coils. After 29 years of service (assuming this was an original part) I think I got my money's worth. 2 minute job and the part was $12.

Especially if it gets rid of a rattle that's been annoying you for weeks or months.
Why not just use different face plates from a older cluster , there are several differences between the clusters over the years in connectors and mounting tabs
Picked up the 75 from @kelly saad - it came out impeccable! Superbe quality. He and Spenser stayed late getting it road-worthy so I could drive back to Santa Fe. Once home, yesterday I finally got around to installing the new left hand (passenger) door I ordered back in May. I never liked the 3/4 glass doors on the 75. The little pop out window whistled and I did everything I could to make it a quieter ride (even replaced the rubber, etc).
These are full glass 79 series doors. I hate the emblem on the door but I'll just plug it with rubber grommets until I can have a body shop fill/paint the holes.
The left door matched perfectly. BUT the company I ordered the "new take-off doors" from sent a beat to s*** right-hand door. It's not "new" and is cracked with a huge dent at the top. They tried to spraypaint it to make it look better but it's thrashed.
I doubt I'll be able to get them to exchange anything so if someone has a new RIGHT HAND door that matches this 79 series door, please let me know. I need it complete with glass and hardware. BUT I have the interior cards and handles. Toyota Paint Code 045 please. Thanks!

Is your old, original RH door in good shape? If it is, you can swap out all the associated window items to from your "new" take off door to delete the wing window in your orginal one.
I like the little windows, and went the opposite way; swapped out my full glass windows for wing windows. Everything was interchangeable. My wing windows have all new rubber, and mine don't whistle... for now
No, mine is trashed haha. Cracked, dented, etc.

I too am a victim of this hainus practice! I went down the same route looking for options but it never occurred to me that I can just transplant the vanes into the original housing. Brilliant!
I even contemplated 3d printing and ordering vents for other Toyotas of the same vintage ( don't bother with the Surf/Hilux, they are slightly different in shape/measurements

Finally got the reverse lights working on the Troopy today. Last weekend had worked out that when a PO had switched the H41 transmission to a H55 the reverse light switch was not connected. Today I got to the reverse light switch on the transmission, a real knuckle bruiser getting through shift cover area, confirmed the switch was working, hardwired an extension (only 4 inches of wire coming off the switch). Then below, found a broken wire behind the receiving plug, so ended up hard wiring the switch for now.
Then found out/remembered I was missing a pigtail for one on the reverse lights. Grabbed one from the local auto store (for parts like light pigtails used across models, same year 4runner parts show up in North American parts catalogs). Troopy now has working reverse lights for the first time since we've owned it. Judging by the wiring, probably since the transmission was changed.
Also replaced the passenger door card back to OEM and used the chance to put some sound deadening in the door cavity. Never mind the off-color parts, we will clean that up over time. If anyone wants the black aluminum cards, let me know.

Today I put the roof racks on. My roof top tent should be here this week. I was hoping to have it for Elk season but shipping delays happened. Which was actually ok because I broke my ankle and was not able to mount the tent or go Elk hunting. looks like will be mobile enough for White Tail season.

I will probably just order the lockwood transparent face and slap it onto the mechanical portion where I have the OEM MPH dial on.
I have learned a lot about these dials doing some research and talking with others that know about them.
As it turns out this dial (MPH main dial, km/h secondary dial) was mainly used for UK market (possibly only for UK market?) where MPH was and still is used for the roads. UK is the only country in EU that still uses the MPH system on the highways. However the km/h secondary dial is for when the cruiser is driven into neighboring countries where KMH is used. I was told by the guy I got this MPH speedometer face from that this one is extremely rare. The odometer and trip odometer behind this face is configured to accumulate in miles. Until I was researching all of this stuff, I had no idea that UK uses MPH.
This next one is one that is more seen here on mud which is the Canadian version. Same story above but different regions in a reverse order. This face was used in Canadian BJ70 where KMH is used as the main dial but then you have the MPH secondary dial which I assume is for driving that BJ70 into the USA. The odometer and trip odometer behind this face is configured to accumulate in kilometers. It doesn't have the timing belt light because 3B doesn't use that.

Not in the EU any longer as they didn't want to use that funny metric stuff that has been taught in schools for around 50 years... And they wanted to go to the shops and ask for a pound of something....
Used on all roads in the UK, not just highways/motorway.
As Gun runner says, all count down signs are in yards...
Haha...I totally forgot about the brexit thing. Still it was interesting for me to find out that UK uses MPH. Not many countries in the world use MPH.

They are Denso and probably Toyota too... printing is just barely visible with a stereo microscope.
The color coding and/or the electric plug styles are reversed from the originals still in place.
I'll have to test how each operates.
I was pleased to find new drum brake wheel cylinders from Rock Auto turned out to be Aisin. The TEQ logo cast on the back side has been ground off.
Also nice to assemble rear brakes indoors on a table.
