It was, I think it started it's decline when the city banned smoking in restaurants and bars about ten years ago. They tried to make it a private' club, so their patrons could continue smoking, but it didn't work out. I had keys made for my 63 FJ40 at that Baldwin Lock & Key once, they're still around, but in a different location now.

I was looking at the photo wondering when they'll raze that corner and put up another hotel/apartment/multi-story-high-density building. Boise is becoming unrecognizable.

It has been a long time since I was asked "smoking or non-smoking" when entering a restaurant here too. I do remember the days when fast food restaurants such as McDonalds or Dairy Queen had those foil ashtrays on every table and people smoked after eating but I was too young to even smoke back then and seemed to have gone away by the time I went to high school which oddly had a smoking area itself. Crazy....

Did a trip a few weeks ago and met some new people, not sure how we got on the subject, but my wife and one of the new people were the only two in the group of 12 that had smoked on an airplane...in the 'smoking section' of course. My wife grew up in Winston-Salem, N.C. her dad worked for RJ Reynolds back in the 60s-80s, it was a different world then.

Yeah...sorry. This is chit chat stuff. We can get back to cruisers now.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em. Those tube fenders look killer.

Finishing up our custom built sliders, we discussed a number of options for the caps. Dimple dies, diamond plate, laser/water jet cut. In the end we decided to make our own caps with some beads rolled in them.

Caps are 14g, we will bed line them when it is all said and done. Cruiser is a DC 79 on an 80 chassis we stretched 13” so these had to be custom built.

Cheers

New water pump today. Old gasket started leaking so I just replaced the whole thing since I had the new pump laying around.

That looks a step further along than mine...

Mine is currently removed from the engine (in turn removed from a vehicle) as I wait for the new one to arrive. I decided that Toyota were having a laugh when they set up all the bits on the 13B-T around the water pump...

Shipping to 37363?

Seriously, that looks really great.

Took my BJ73 for a nice run in the nearby hills (Bergischen Land) to admire fall foliage this weekend. (No, it's not that bright over here, like in some places in the US or CA).
It was still quite warm on the weekend, but on Monday morning we saw the first frost here in Leverkusen.
So I started the winter preparations by giving it a good clean and inspection of the undercarriage and by spreading out 3 cans of FluidFilm (Lanolin based rust protection).
I'm pleased to say that the rig made the summer season without any major issue. No big ToDos, other than regular maintenance and some preventive TLC.
Cheers Ralf

Troopy gas tank pressure. I removed the charcoal canister. Bought a new replacement not OEM. I bought a new gas filler cap this is OEM. I put the new gas cap on went to lunch. When i came back i took the gas cap off and there was pressure build up. Both hoses “tank” and “purge” were just hanging not capped. I had blown air at 45psi into the “tank” line and i can hear the air in the tank comming out the filler. The new gas cap is vented. Where am i getting blockage. Is there another vent somewhere? Ugh. This is a 3F motor. Bone stock. 1985 FJ75LV MRV from Oman Jordan. Im new at this and read the forums and watch the videos. I have successfully rebuilt the axels and brakes already. I thought i had the problem nicked. Any advice will be greatly appreciate. “I ask the Oracle of Fuel” to grant me a tank that breathes.
