on a daily basis i feel surrounded by mindless zombies. I call them idiots...others call them customers.

my plans for survival....Sailboat. Stocked full of goods. Hide in the tropics. I have no guns and nothing of value.

Hell...where i want to go it's warm enough to not even need clothes.

I think i could live the rest of my life with 2 pairs of flip flops and a pair of cargo shorts.

My kids will eventually learn to love the minimalist lifestyle.

I saw that movie. It's called The Mosquito Coast. In this scenario the dad eventually drives himself crazy with his own obsessiveness (and tinkering) and his wife and kids take his boat and leave him.

i never saw that movie

but if it were my movie there would be two huts on the island

one for me and one for the family.

They are not to come on my side of the island unless invited.

Just watch the Walking Dead. You should buy everything they are hunting for. Water, food, shelter, fire, guns, ammo, medical supplies, fuel, etc.

Gold and silver will just help me buy those things once the world starts to shift to disorder. Hopefully I can judge enough in advance to cash out. In the meantime I am buying 50/50 metals and survival supplies. I still need some reserve liquid assets in case we get sick or laid off.

Jeremy

You gotta have the knowledge to USE those medical supplies and of medicine as well... I got that covered. If the ish were to go down you'd see people banding together in communities "there is a gov't document that outlines the downfall of the US with multiple situations discussed" and it would be real little house on the prairie meets mad max s***... But you'd see people who can farm, those who trade goods, those who you go to see to be "healed" when sick. I got two of those, I feel ok...

hills, red dawn, too much time.

WOLVERINES!!! or should it be HONEY BADGERS!!!

Yeah, your right. My neighbor is a nurse, and her husband is a lawyer. We'd eat him first.:)

Jeremy

why would you want to be in civilization?

maybe it's because my wife is a nurse and i'm a jack of all trades but the last thing i want to deal with in life after civilization is other people.

For me it would be like a vacation and others would just ruin it.

if china were to invade they would come here for our resources.

for one we have land for crops...thats good right?

we also have plenty of stock for oil reserves right? Everyone wants crude oil.

but here's the biggie....China only allows one child per family right? What does every family want....a boy to carry the family name. Now...that's good and well but what happens when all those boys turn into grown men and start wanting GIRLS. Since a large percentage of females are aborted in favor for males to carry the family name that is an issue that will one day surface.

Granted i think there are other countries that would be much easier to visit for ladies but if the US government flops and we can't fund/run a military...we might have some issues.

Probable...no...but possible...yes

Yeah, I know. But I figured eventually the cruise ships will stop landing there as more and more accidents on big ships happen and as fuel goes way up. Plus if we ever get the chance to go to Cuba again, there will be no need to venture that far south anymore. Then those islands will be like they were in the 60's and 70's that my granddad told me about.

Jeremy

You are headed in the right direction, and using the correct mode of transportation. I'll be right behind you.

We are retiring in Trinidad and Tobago. Have family down there. Awesome place.

i want to go farther south than cuba.

go down around aruba where hurricanes are out of reach.

Speaking of going south, my wife thinks I'm crazy but I want to sail down to Antartica during the southern hemisphere summer. Not to stay or retire, but to me, it seems like the closest simulation of going to the moon without leaving this planet. I'm sure after such a visit, Cuba/T & T, etc. will look real inviting.

No one to bother me while I'm down there except the Penguins.

i myself can't stand the cold weather.

but if given enough time to get tired of the tropics i think it would be rather exciting.

I'd take the fam and head to the coast.

My parents, sister/husband, my wife and of course...
