I don't think either have enough power or brains to get it done. The gov't is filled with morons. The public votes them in. We're just well conditioned cattle who will go where we are prodded to go by the gov't we elect.

I do not think that we will be invaded. The rest of the world has the benefit of history. They have seen other countries go down the path that we are. They will simply let us die of our own weight.
See, it'e the new math that has killed us. We have spent far more than we make for decades now and our leaders think it is OK. We pay, they spend more than we pay.
People talk about China owning us, what's to own? They're not going to come and take over are they?
Will they forclose on us and we will sell at thirty cents on the dollar? What dollar?
Gimpy made a comment about 401K account. I do not know about any of you but I sure am not trusting my retirement to some "Fund" that has my money. We saw how fast banks can tank in 08. I'll stick with land and prec metals. I may have to defend it but I will at least have a start. If the chit does ever hit the fan at least I will have a head start.

my only problem with precious metals is that gold is already outrageous. If the world fell apart tommorow what would be more valuable to someone gold or a can of beans?
Just watch the Walking Dead. You should buy everything they are hunting for. Water, food, shelter, fire, guns, ammo, medical supplies, fuel, etc.
Gold and silver will just help me buy those things once the world starts to shift to disorder. Hopefully I can judge enough in advance to cash out. In the meantime I am buying 50/50 metals and survival supplies. I still need some reserve liquid assets in case we get sick or laid off.

i love that show but am never home to watch it and no dvr. Completely agree about the ammo and such.

for one we have land for crops...thats good right?
we also have plenty of stock for oil reserves right? Everyone wants crude oil.
but here's the biggie....China only allows one child per family right? What does every family want....a boy to carry the family name. Now...that's good and well but what happens when all those boys turn into grown men and start wanting GIRLS. Since a large percentage of females are aborted in favor for males to carry the family name that is an issue that will one day surface.
Granted i think there are other countries that would be much easier to visit for ladies but if the US government flops and we can't fund/run a military...we might have some issues.

my plans for survival....Sailboat. Stocked full of goods. Hide in the tropics. I have no guns and nothing of value.
Hell...where i want to go it's warm enough to not even need clothes.
I think i could live the rest of my life with 2 pairs of flip flops and a pair of cargo shorts.
My kids will eventually learn to love the minimalist lifestyle.

if taxes are good to me this year i'll have a boat on a dock and the other on a trailer.
As for supplies...
all i need is my fishing gear and some water.
And i can find both if needed once i'm afloat!
It's a great series, and it is far from your typical cheesy zombie movie. The zombies are actually a backdrop to the trials of human survival in a post-apocolyptic world. You could substitute the zombies for invasion, political unrest, nuclear catastrophe, or just a pandemic.
