Guys,

I've got a 1996 with 275K. Recently had the U-joint replaced. When I make a right turn, I hear a walrus like sound and can't figure what is the problem. Something is definitely rotating to cause this sound. Any ideas?

had to google it

muffler bearings???

How do I check the spindle bushing?

It almost sounds like something rubbing on hollow plastic. Not a constant sound but staccato

most likely culprit is that in fact you have a sea mammal in your truck. Please look carefully and call your local pest control. Happened to my friend's cousin's brother once he's australian and knows his land cruisers.

Could it be a dry spindle bushing? Seems like that might get more work when turning.
Where exactly is this bushing and how do you check it? I think I'm developing the same issue.

Item 28
Your 1/3 of the way into a front axle rebuild to get to it.

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m starting to get worried with this sound and having to take two little kids to school every morning. So the bushing if bad and fails what other things could happen besides the noise? Is it something I need to do ASAP? The car did sit in some water just up to the axle for a couple of days during the flood.

And could this also affect the rear axle also?
