Well, that is good news that they will make it right.

I was really hoping you could find the engine stamp numbers so you could see the “2F” on there. I hate to bring it up but It would rule out the possibility that you might have an F.5. The reason I say that is, I also have a casting number of 60032 on my F.5.

Jeeez, I hope not. Maybe someone here knows of another way do distinguish the F.5 and 2F outside of measuring the bore size.

Well I had the engine bored 10,000 about 2 years ago.... I just hope the head is right. Is there a difference between F5 and 2F head? I just want the oil to flow. I have heard many people Frankenstein head and block. I have the same numbers you have...

without solid knowledge, i dont think there is a difference between the f.5 and 2f heads, as the f.5 used the 2f oiling system.

I don't know. But I thought I heard that for some reason, the F.5 head was desirable to put on a 2F. Higher compression maybe? Can't remember.
Just checking and I see they use different head gaskets.

Hi Steamer,

I just ordered a 2f Head gasket. That gasket worked for the 1F and the head I had on it before, which was a 610xx number. Guess we will know in a few days.

I think I am OK. My vin # is pre 7309, but the engine is later...

I reckon the definitive ID will come when the head comes off and the bore is measured. 90mm vs 94mm.

I have four large freeze plugs on the driver’s side. How bout you?

C'mon man! a scotch brite pad and some penetrating oil will reveal the answer in less than 5 minutes!

Service replacement longblocks are serial numbered, because they come off the engine assembly line.
Service replacement blocks are not numbered.

Check the date code on the cyl head and the engine block.

Replacement blocks don't have SN. A complete engine has a SN.

McLain, please get pics of the top of the cyl head. All the numbers on the top will decode to a date and configuration.
Also get a pic of numbers on the side of the block, below manifolds. The small #s found towards rear of block are casting date.

I will try, wire wheeled it 1 year ago and it was flat. Bout time to give it a whirl again. Will try when I'm back in FL on the 26th. "Scotch" first, brite and oil later.

Boaf has a 74 1.5F engine block. Unfortunately he previously received a '72 F head without the integrated rocker oiling.
The 2F head that is coming is a 6103x style. It will bolt to the 1F block, but the manifold fasteners are 12mm, so new M12 hardware is required and some machining of manifolds to clear the bigger hardware.
Also, the combustion chamber is bigger, so the CR will be dropped some.

Any part # that starts with 60xxx is F engine. 2F PNs always start 61xxx.
e.g. An F carb is 60201, 2F is 61010.
F block is 6003x, 2F block is 6101x.
F head is 60050, 2F head is 61010...

Received the correct head from CruiserParts.net. I actually believe they sent me my original head. Carbon all over the place, I even see Gasket Sealer still on the head. Numbers are the same. Also please take a look at these pictures. The valve stems in particular. The rubber boots are not seated. Should they be?

The original reason I sent the head to them was because of oil blow by and black smoke out the exhaust. This fricken drama is ridiculous.
