Gotcha, I only eat shrimp off the boat in McVille and only eat cluster oysters from the same inlets and as far south as Beaufort. I am not sure if you can even eat oysters from Murrells Inlet anymore, and the only shrimp I catch in Liitle River or MI gets used for bait.

Jeremy

growing up i used to eat the crabs/shrimp i caught out of the inlets in/around MI and the camp ground Pirate Land we would stay in there at Myrtle Beach.

It wasn't until i was older that i realized the risks i was taken eating them.

None of my children were born with 3 eyes but now that i know better i wouldn't do it again.

Well, I would never stay in a campground in Myrtle Beach let alone eat from the creeks and swashes. You know those waters at Pirateland are just street run-off, not really classified as coastal "tidal" waters.

When I think of Myrtle I think of the places I grew up at. Playing on the beach between 42nd Ave N. and the curve before the next strip of hotels. Taking the boat out to Little River Inlet and swimming around Bird Island. Or going to Huntington and camping and fishing off the jetties in MI.

Ocean Lakes, Pirate Land, and MB State Park are feces infested, redneck infested, crap holes IMHO.

I used to enjoy our summers at pirate land. Now that I am older and traveled outside the east coast I realize how much of an arm pit Myrtle is. And my family is definitely redneck

Hey I resemble that remark..... spent many summer vacations at Pirate Land, loved it as kid would never go back now :o

I have a place down at Litchfield and I personally don't see anything wrong with the area. Sure the main area is crowded and very touristy but most places that are popular are. As far as not being clean nothing could be farther from the truth. They don't just pump raw sewage into the ocean. No more than any other beach community does. Bacteria is everywhere and occurs naturally. If you go to the beach and don't see blue water and think it's polluted you have no idea what your talking about. That is sediment not pollution. As far as redneck. I say yes. But find me one populated beach that isn't on the east coast that has low cost hotels and motels. As far as the fish We eat everything we catch from behind the house with no worries. Some of you are very paranoid about it. Especially if you have no problem with smoking pot but won't eat fish from myrtle beach.

I haven't been to MB since i was in HS. Kind of trashy then, probably still is. I've only been to Litchfield once and thought it was pretty nice. We spend most of our time on HHI, since the wife's family has a house there.

my reference to myrtle being dirty is from the bacteria that comes from overflowing sewage pipes from the many camp grounds in the area.

The green/brown water being less desirable was stated as being a preference.

If it were not for toruism there would be bacteria warning posts on those beaches.

And JP is right, you never know whats going to wash up on those beaches.

Last time I was surfishing at Myrtle Beach I caught a used tampon

Trolling the Blvd. and dipping your tallywhacker in a prostitute doesn't count as surf fishing. Even if her cootch did smell like Cod.:lol::lol:

And I bet there is more bacteria in the pool at your housing development than at those beaches. Also you drink more bacteria everytime you get ice out of a vending machine than swimming in Myrtle. Smoke another one man.

You talking to me or Dohc here? As I don't have a bacteria phobia... hell most of us keep our tooth brushes close enough to our toilets that they routinely get fecal matter on them.... gotta keep things in perspective :hillbilly:

DOHC

Just the escort reference for you.

Good, I can handle the prositution tag, but not being labeled a germ-a-phob, don't want people thinking poorly of me :hillbilly:

I grew up eating everthing we caught around Mt. Pleasant, Sullivans Island, and IOP. I still do. Working on the water (building docks) for over 10 years, I've seen about everything in the water. As long as there is good tide flow, I have no problem with it. It's just when you get way up in the creeks where the water never leaves that I have a problem with.
Hell, the best flounder I ever had I caught right by the old Navy Base. I know that place isn't clean, but the tide flows very well through there.
I would do the same around MB.

just because i think the Gov't shouldn't be allowed to tell you you can't do (insert drug here) doesn't mean i'm a pot head.

I'm for small government. I just don't think the gov't should have any say so in what you do in the privacy of your own home when it's not hurting anyone.

I refuse to take either side in the abortion debate but i don't think it should be the government that decides if it should or should not be allowed.

Even if it's something that i don't agree with if its done behind closed doors and doesn't affect me or anyone else...why should the governement have a say so in the thing?

I don't care if gays get married...let them get the extra tax credit for all i care. They are not bothering me. I don't have to live with them.

Lets focus on the real issue...the um...economy.

Anytime you want to move back to California, that is fine by me.

Jeremy

what does california have to do with small government?

I'm refering to smaller federal government. The sale of marijana is somewhat tolerated in some parts of cali but that still does not take care of the bigger picture.

And i still would not eat any bottom dweller fish out of the MB area.

i'm all for some donkey trail riding.

I've got a bottle of jose and some margirita mix wating for the trip.
