if you want a beach with no traffic try anything gulf coast below tampa bay.

it's the off season

during the day you may see a dozen people on the beach from 8-5.

You'll see a gathering of some geezers/familys to catch the sun setting over the coast.

And you can rent a house for a week for the price of 3 nights at a hotel room in MB.

We may try that when the kids are a little older. I enjoy the water and so does my wife and most of the kids. So far we haven't done nothing but play on the beach. Tues or wednesday we will go out shopping and such. Maybe try to find a boat ride for the kids. Gotta find some seafood to eat without bankrupting me.

kids make the 12-14 hr road trip a real PITA!!!

But it's worth it to get the clear blue water and white sand.

I haven't been down to the gulf since the wife and i got married. I do prefer the gulf to any east coast beaches but having a free place to stay is worth the sacrifice.

I have not been to myrtle in 10+ years. I used to love it down there. Now i'd rather aviod any traffic/people/crowds any way possible.

It's cheaper to just buy a boat and hit one of the many protected seashores available only by boat. You can drive down to the SC coast and drive the boat for 15 minutes and have a private island all to yourself. Way better than driving 14 hours down to the land where everyone goes to die.

All the seafood in MB cost the same, you might as well go ahead and get the freshest, tastiest seafood you can since you will be less one kidney when you leave.

Sea Captain's House is the best in MB, and Nance's is great if you want to drive down to Murrell's Inlet.

If you prefer buffett, then just go to Benjamin's or if you are staying close to 4th ave N. my stepmom works at Seafood World and it is great, yet not as busy as Benjamins. Might be a tad cheaper too.

i still prefer the uninhabited islands with white sands and clear blue water!!!

14 hrs away or not it's still cheaper than mexico/jamica/enter island with water that will make you peed out your butt here.

my kids are driving me crazy!!

tell them to go play on the beach!

don't forget little river and calabash for the seafood - none of the hords from out of state know about those spots. you just have to fight the casion crowds in little river. mb will make you hate the beach. come to edisto = plenty of room down here right now. couple of kayaks and the serpentarium and the kids are good to go.

2nd for Edisto - My folks live down there full time and the wife and I are down there at least once a month (free beach house, why not?). It is low-key and not crowded at all.

And it has Piggly Wiggly. We will be there in a few days.

still just enough room for a few cold beers!

Have they burried you in the sand yet?

I found out that my 3 yr old loves being burried in the sand.

Me being the fan of "tough love" i burried him a little deeper each time until he couldn't get out without help.

I wrote "beach day care" in the sand beside him.

He was well above the high tide line.

Last shuttle...zoom zoom. Looking forward to seeing what's next. A buddy of mine braved the traffic and went to watch it live.

Going though some things today and came across this. Notes from the first Low Country boil. Shows who was there. Kind of cool. I think this was in 08?
