Don't believe the hype.

Gov't spending is what is fueling this economy right now. Wait till that runs out, or when China asks for it back.

If everyone doesn't have 6-12 months of liquid standby in the bank, under a matress, or in the yard. Then you shouldn't even be thinking about having toys in the garage. I have well over 12 months of standby, so it isn't a money thing with me. It's about being smart and staying ahead of everyone else.

You can always live by good ole Ben Franklin:

"We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing"

But keep in mind he was also one of this countries biggest penny pinchers, and never wasted a single minute of his day.

"Buy what thou hast no need of, and before long thou shalt sell thy necessaries"

Nothing wrong with enjoying life and spending money on leisure, but when it consumes too much time, or you consider selling other things that you "need" to keep the life of leisure then it becomes slothful.

Everyone is different and has their own life to lead. I just hope everyone plans their time and finances well enough in advance so that they can continue to still enjoy life and play when possible.

It is all well and good to have liquid "reserves" but what about when said "liquidity" aka cash devalues due to the IMF dropping the US credit rating, and us pumping out money like, well to use the axiom from above "like pouring water on a fire". Personally i'd find something more stable than cash. Gold and other precious metals are the way to go in this shaky economy. Listen to G.Gordon... He does have some good ideas every once and a while...

In the 6 or so years I've been with the club I've never seen as much buying and selling as I have seen this past year.

wanna buy my 40..... i'll throw in "plus" size seatbelts :hillbilly:

Who said my liquid wasn't precious metals?

Just make sure you have the metal in hand, not through a broker.

Yeah you were the one that got me thinking. Mr. Buy it with the intention of never selling it guy.

No plans to sell my cruiser, especially if I can get it outfitted the way I want. I'm just hoping that by the time I can afford a 40, I can afford to keep the 60 too. Although, I will admit to contemplating selling it and buying a FJC for the more up-to-date driving experience. It was a quick-lived moment of weakness, but it did happen... Luckily I realized that the 60 was dead-nuts reliable and moved on.

I have no intention of selling my FJC. Heck, I'm gonna keep it running for my first born to drive. There may not be much original on it by then, but it will still be a beast of a truck.

No brokers, no way... No metals in hand, no deal. Also land is a good commodity, if not for real estate, for use if the unthinkable happened. Plus the ability and knowledge of farming principals. Never really thought about it but Dad was really teaching me some stuff when we were doing gardens. Glad I have that knowledge, plus medicine training isn't a bad trade to ply.

I wasn't just outright selling my 40 without purpose. I really miss my 60. I wish that was the one I would have kept and built up, but que sera... I wanted to sell the 40 and find a good 60 that was all. If anyone knows where a nice 60 is let me know...

problem with gold is :

a: if u don't have any now sure as heck aint the time to get some.
b: The govt. can have a gold recall just like they did before ww2 and then de value it. Now if it is not american currency u may have a chance.

Personally i buy some ammo every now and then and save what i can. Only got around 6-8mths of $$ though.

G. Gordon is a tool

and i for one don't have near 6 mos of liquid to stand by on

but...i do have 2 cars and a house paid for in cash!

i like crunk teeth.

Well I think when you have 3 40's sitting in your back yard from the exact same year(1962)..... one begins to reevaluate the use of such words as "never" :hillbilly:

Not to mention I have an 80 now, and I stand to inherit a pretty sweet FJ45:grinpimp: I am not getting out of the sickness I am just consolidating!!

Plus I am still keeping my favorite '62 40....... I built the 3FE one just for kicks and now I am ready for something different. I plan to take the money from the sale and re-invest it into the 80 in the form a 2UZ-FE V8:cool:

So... yeah; don't be judging me Mr. I am going sell my 40 and get an AC Cobra, atleast I am staying in the Cruiser family:flipoff2:

Thanks for the kind words Marshall....I love my 2 cruisers and couldn't think of selling them....in fact down the road we will probably sell the 4runner and get a hundred so we have more room for two kids....speaking of fixing the LC I am getting a knuckle rebuild kit for the 60 and would like to do it either the last week in July or the last week in august.....if we had enough interest we could do this as another club event....if not we could do a club hamom and you could work on what ya needed to....my father in law just got this cool lift that will lift the entire side of your vehicle so you can do the work needed.

i am interested in doing another axle hamom but would really rather do it in august. Goin on vac. saturday so wallet will be tapping for mercy when we return.

You can judge me all you want. I live around some of the best waters in the country instead of mountains, so I sold my 40 and got a new boat.:grinpimp:
