Of course the TDI being a vw seems to be jealous of the new starter for the truck and it seems like the starter on it is going out now.

Can't wait to sell that thing. LOL

Another episode of "jeez Rice, that's hardly what I would call wrenching".

Even though alignment numbers on the wife's van are in spec, I was unhappy with the tire wear. Put on a new set of tires and installed rear camber adjustment shims to take some load off the inside of the tire (ie less of a dirt track setup).

Will report back in 20,000 miles how it did.

Man. Add a stiffer sway bar and she will be able to maintain at least 30 through the turn on Anthony rd. :D

Needed to bleed the clutch in the Spitfire. Once the trans tunnel cover was off, it could pretty much be done by one person from the drivers seat; the bleed screw is just left and forward of the shifter (right under the fuel gauge), and I could almost reach the reservoir without leaving the car.

Bonus: I found almost $2 in 1974 quarters under the carpet! I left them there.

Also got some time in on the F550 bed. I really like how it's coming out! @RedHeadedStepChild came by to inspect and discuss over some Heady Toppers. Thanks again brother

So my weekend project. Finally got around to completing the assembly of my tire carrier. It mounts to the 4 existing holes on the rear crossmember and drops down. It keeps the receiver free for a trailer hitch or basket.

It came with bolts to attach the wheel with lug nuts, but I grabbed 4 front wheel studs and used them instead.

How do you like the tube bender? Why wood on the bed and not metal?

Putting the bender together has been awesome! Can't comment on the function yet, didn't get a chance to test yesterday. Should be able to today.

Wood for the bed because it's *temporary* and cheap.

AHHHHH! Now I get it. I thought you were building a comedy machine - one of those things that you load with tennis balls that automatically throws them at people.

Because, what other purpose would a machine that throws tennis balls have besides comedy?

Yesterday I installed my Prodigy P3 brake controller in the dash of the 120 series. Not a small feat, considering its about 4.3 degrees colder than the sun, with 139% humidity down here in good ole sunny florida. Theres a nice factory supplied brake controller harness connector up under the steering column. Ran the pigtail up to where the factory ashtray/coin holder compartment is, and encased it in some high density foam. The permanent installation will incorporate the factory door to cover the P3. Also had a small staple hole patched in the left front. Would trigger the tpms sensor to kick about every 8-10 days.

Really liked using that controller. Super smooth operation. Nice looking install too.

The foam was cut with a thin serrated fruit paring knife on the island in the kitchen. It's going to get a little cleaner install when I get home, abd can really take some time carving the foam. Harbor Freight was just down the road from my Mom's place, and had their multi piece plastic trim removal kit on sale, plus a 25% off coupon.

Between the huge new Ford and all the metal fab I think he is putting together a secret weapon for Moab:
