i have met many people over the decades that had skills they never knew they had till they actually tried something. some are worried about failing, the only real failing is to never have tried.

i am fortunate to have the passion, the obsesion, that i have and the people that trust me to do a good job.

AGREED - I'm absolutely blown away with the depth of knowledge I see appearing on these pages, the skills of some of the "Technicians" and the projects they undertake, and the quality of the finished products, and the greatest of all is the information that is shared - its just awesome.

sometimes you just have to work things out ...

locating the latch reciever hole so it is the same spacing for every door.

test counter sinking the mounting bolts.

so then you drill a pilot hole in the panel
next you clamp the panel into its proper place and using the pilot holes to drill a pilot hole for the nut zert.
finally you drill the counter sink hole into the panel

drill the hole for the nutzert
insert and clamp tight
test each one for any rotation or being loose.

if good then move on to the next one, repeat 35 times for all nutzerts

of course test first panel before carrying on to all the other installations.

brand new FF rear diff arrived from Japan.
brand new disc brake backing plates
and in the mail i recieved these pretty little things ...

moving ahead with the side compartments ...

test fitting the cables for the lid of the rear door cooking shelf
test fitting the slide snaps.

after i assembled the unit in the door i tested the load for the new owner and found the small 1/8" aluminum was lacking so we took all the boxes off and inserted 1/4" X 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" mounting tabs welded on 3 sides. now these boxes are strong enough to sit on (but there will be a sticker stating "NO STEP" just to play it safe)

the catches needed to be drilled, 2 holes prescisely using 6-32 bolts. tiny little things.
jig is made
holes are drilled
holes are taped
mount catches
test

repeat 40 times (160 holes)

test fit again for any clearence issues ...

acceptable

on the roof rack we needed to make a custom tent mount bars.
since we were drilling 5/16" holes into 1/2" butted aluminum C channel the holes needed to be perfectly inserted.
a modified entry level drill press was brought into play. it worked REAL nice.
Mitch enjoyed having a new toy to play with.

starting on the tent mount bars.
the stopper bolt for the slide off hinges, remove this and the door comes right off.
this little guy was teasing the dogs so i wanted a pic.

the doors ready for PC, i put the bolts in to keep the PC out of the threads.
the rear and side boxes ready for PC

there were 666 holes drilled in the boxes all totalled (222 X 3 different settings) plus 25 nutzert holes drilled...

that is a lot of time spent on the drill.

all in all, i am happy with the results.

missed this one, the doors will nto have the straps since they will lay down onto the bed.
