looking good boys! If you ever come to North Coast BC you should take the telkwa pass:) I'll be heading in there this year sometime when the snow melts. I will do a trip report on it when it happens.
I am pumped for this truck.

it is the Traveling Cruiser thread i was refering to ...
Do you have a link to 'that' thread?

As in a build thread for that truck, or is it the more general Travelling Cruiser thread posted above?

Thanks.

Hello ducatiman81211,
I have a few intentions for this Troopy: it'll be my daily driver; it is to take me travelling, across Canada without seeing any paved roads at all if possible, over and over again, and be as self-sufficient as i can with just this car, living in/on it; then to the bottom of South America and back (currently the aim is to take two years off for that); after that, hopefully i'll be able to keep travelling, as finances allow ('round the world fantasies); it needs to be able to take a beating and come back for more; and i never want to buy another car again. Which is why it is being overbuilt. It needs to be kept as simple as possible, so a non-mechanic like myself has a fighting hope of fixing stuff by myself when i am in the middle of nowhere: air conditioning, power windows and the like aren't necessities, so nothing like that will be in there.
It's the sort of ambition i've had since i don't know when, and i can finally afford to have a go at it. I could go on, but i think that'll get the idea across.
I must say, i am surprised at the interest shown. Hmm!

Cheers, 61Mk+

That's a real awesome build! We don't have troopie here in Indonesia, not through dealership anyway. Recently the Toyota dealer offered imported troppie from Australia for US$ 81,000

I've seen quite a few nice old 40's driving around when I've been over in Indo. No new cruisers though...for obvious reasons like the 100% import tax.

hijack over...carry on Wayne she is looking good

G'day all,
a most detailed and workmanship like build. You are very lucky 61+ to have found a interested and talented builder. I'm following with a lot of interest as the detailed photos are proving to be worth their weight in gold. 61+, are you a prospector?

been a while ...
took a week off to help my helper build up this:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/79-95-toyota-truck-tech/458927-custom-aussie-knock-off-trayback.html

test fitting the rear tank, didn't like the depth. 61K ended up not wanting to be driving a "fuel tanker":lol: so we ditched the third tank and went with a max of 240 L of fuel in 2 custom tanks.

back to the rear bumper, clearence light test fitted, first tire swing out mount installed. it is important to keep the upper and lower spindles perfectly in line. solid rod was used to align the lower and upper reciever for the spindles. short welding sticking was used to keep the tower straight and true.

the tire supports to be bolted to the bumper and allows for various size tires to be installed. this takes further load off the spindle and latching assembly as well as allows the owner to lift the tire onto the support and rotate the tire to line up on the wheel studs on the tire carrier and not damage the threads.

easier on the back too.

these brackets are going to be used for attaching the rar side bar protection to the spindle uprights. this strengthens the spindle upright and allows the side bar to be removed.

tranny t/case belly bar protection. shed 40 pipe with 1/4" plate for skid plate protection of the t/case drain and the PTO drive drain areas...

rear side bar protection. must be removable. must be strong.
front unboltable mount.
rear unboltable mount

the upper support for the side bar protection, it too had to be removable ...
so this is the rear side bar protection, few more bolts, weld it up and off to the powder coaters.

That could be a "hood ornament" that every male would be jealous of.:) ...and the Toyota is nice also.
