After modification it is the same or higher than the split case. I am not done welding yet. Also have to finish the cable.

If anyone wonders I used:
two 3/4" HSS 1-1/8" long
two 3/4x3/8 Flat Bar, 9.5" long
3/8 bolts spaced 8.5" center to center
two 3/8 pipe 1.75" long

will the skid plate provide protection to that?

In looking at Trollholes and Chris' setup, there is a reason they are mounted the way they are. Trollhole's is mounted up top and I would believe that this is the way it is supposed to be mounted. If you look at Chris', it looks like his exhaust runs right over the top of the t-case output shaft and there is no room to mount it up top. He does have a clean approach to his mounting and looks to have good fab skills. Great job to the both of you.

That is a crossmember, not exhaust..

Realized that when I went back and looked at the pictures a bit closer. Thanks for correcting me.

Simple mistake, FJ60 frames do not have that cross member.

Yeah, I have a 40 that I lengthened the frame and tub 6 inches and transplanted an HJ60 2H diesel and auto/split case into. My narrowed 80 series rear locked axle is converted to FJ cruiser disk rotors and 80 series calipers. At the end of the day I had to mount a tcase ebrake to keep it legal.

A valid question. I found out that the FJC used the same rear pads as the 80. I ditched all the 80 ebrake stuff mainly for the simple reason that I'm a fan of tcase mounted ebrakes since it is fairly unique.
The benefit to the FJC rotor is that it is a bit smaller OD therefore you can fit 15" wheels over the caliper when mounted, which you can't do on 80 rear as stock. Turns out I went to 16.5 HMMWV wheels anyway but it is nice to have the option of 15's I suppose.
To mount the calipers was a pain. I use the 80 housing and a portion of the backing plate. I then weld a pipe between the 80 bit and the 40 drum backing plate. The 80 caliper mounting portion was welded to the 40 backing plate positioning the caliper properly for the FJC rotors. I don't think I'd change my approach.
In the east we have so many mud holes the ebrake drums just get filled with dirt and drag heavily, wear out the pads and require constant attention. I'm hoping that the full disk setup will be better.
I intend to start an axle thread. Just welded the diff guard last night and finished the longfield short axle mods tonight.

A valid question.

Gotcha.

Never paid attention to, but first I'd heard that the rear pads were the same on the two. That may further explain the rear braking issues on the 80.

Me, too, but for the sake of OE elegance more than uniqueness, or functionality, for that matter.

Out of curiosity, why not use the FJC calipers, since ebrake provisions are afforded by?
Wouldn't be a typical question, but haven't heard of anyone adopting any FJC component, so it was begged to be asked.

I'm working on e-brake onto split case now.

Please expand. How is ebrake provision provided by minitruck/FJC caliper?

awesome job .. wonder why they make the bracket so low ..

We installed one of those kits on a buddy's FJ62 not too long ago. The bracket can be used in any orientation on the transfer case. It does not have to be that low. When we installed the e-brake setup, we clocked it as such:

good info .. did you guys test how it performs .. ?

My setup is on a 40 frame so it wouldn't fit upright. Crossmember and gastank/floor in the way. Looks like a good fit upright though.

Will make the same offer to you as I did to Kurt and Georg.

If you'd like to attempt reproducing the split case retainer, be more than happy to loan mine for the purposes of.

Semi float axle, so I'm assuming a bolt on affair. I know a couple of guys that have adapted to FF housings, be it D60s or customs, since it's a halfway decent set up.

FJC E-Brake

What is the minimum wheel size that will work with the FJC p-brake? I'm guessing at least 16's if not 17's, but I'm hoping for 15's.
