nice. who doesn't love a special entrance?

If someone theoretically downloaded the files from this link, how might they go about actually using them? Hypothetically speaking, of course.
downloading it not as a link but as an image so we could refer to diagrams, part numbers and descriptions and maybe post it as an FAQ?:hillbilly:

That link worked for me, had to prove I've posted on a toyota forum before 11/09. Free registration and now I can see images..

:)

Pete

Delete this please per the rules on Toyodiy

if you downloaded everything and are not that computer savy ,what you have will be disc images ISO's you either will have to learn how to mount them or burn them to CD . these are the setup discs for the program . you have to physically make the cd's and then once you have the disc's run the setup and install the program .

WOW i just tried installing that latest EPC that i posted up previously your right it does suck I downloaded it a few months ago but never played with it ,it is tuff to figure out .not very user friendly .the diagrams are crappy untill you zoom in on them. just seems like a lot of work with this program to search out a part number
i would download the older one.

heres another option for those of you who don't no about this webiste . i'm sure most of you do
Electronic Parts Catalogues - Page: 1

here is a good working EPC, it offers torrent links to disc's and you only need to download the disc's for what region you actually want. this is the best option i think for obtaining the EPC :grinpimp: . if you go this route and need the Lexus unlocked give me a shout for the fix

man that toyota EPC app suxx my balls. what a :bang: :crybaby:

how about starting our own ih8muDIY? i mean every time a mudder comes up with a write up for the FAQ, i suggest they take a picture of its exploded view just like that in the toyoDIY diagram section and then identify/label each and every part with its factory part number. before something permanently goes wrong with toyoDIY? i see some posts do this:confused:

some of you may consider this heresy, but......

I think Toyota sucks....

Yeah, they're a company that builds the best damn offroad vehicle ever, but on the other hand, they are worse than useless when it comes to issues of customer satisfaction, and this issue with toyodiy is another example of that.

If you try to import a non-usa truck from europe, for example, they absolutely refuse to give you the time of day. a letter from toyota would ease entry of such vehicles into the us, but do they ever help in this regard?

No, the actively discourage this. why? I've heard it's a liability issue, I don't know. I just think they want to keep out competition for the proper us market vehicles.

In any regards, it's pretty damn annoying that they refuse to help people bring in their vehicles, and then actively block access to parts.

It used to be that you could call up a US dealer, give them a non-us part number, and they could often order that part through the US parts sytem. No more. If the part is non-us part, then the "new and improved" us parts system doesnt' even recognize the part number anymore.

I really have a love-hate relationship with this company. I think they really suck when it comes to assisting their loyal customers who want to bring in (and then maintain) a non-usa vehicle. It seems they go out of their way to make it difficult or impossible to buy any parts for these vehicles.

Frankly, i'm kinda glad they are getting a ration of BS for their stance on this "unintended acceleration" problem. Whether it's floor mats or an electronic issue remains to be seen, but the fact that they have had some major safety issues in some countries, and then not only failed to disclose (or recall) the same vehicles here for those same problems, is indicative of a company that has some serious problems at the core.

I could go on and mention a ton of other issues, but I'll step down now.

Blame DOT regulations, not Toyota.

DOT regs explain why Toyota doesn't pay for testing/importation of the 70/90/105 series (sorta), but DOT doesn't prevent Toyota from saying "that hdj81 is the exact same chassis that was sold in North America" and leaving it at that. Or they could say "that hdj81 has at least 50% of the identical parts of a North America 80-series". Or something of the sort.

Especially for left hand drive models originally sold in Europe (where emissions are controlled).

And Toyota is simply missing a business opportunity by not including non-USA parts in your computer, Dan. If I go into Toyota Costa Rica and ask for a USA-style air cleaner for an fj60, they say, "Oh, that's a USA part. It'll take us between 2 and 6 weeks to get it from the USA or Japan. You'll have to prepay." Heck, I would buy non-USA parts through American Toyota, simply to get a discount and intelligent help from the good folks in that parts department.

Toyota USA could offer the exact same response re: Non-USA Toyota parts.... just add whatever time needed, and factor in transit costs. I'm sure it would require revamping the parts order system. But I'm equally sure that it would not be a major overahaul.... the parts are already in computers somewhere, the part numbers do exist.

When Toyota makes bad policy, it is constructive for us to remark on it. I don't think that Toyota USA is vindictive towards non-USA vehicles, but I don't understand why they aren't slightly more accomodating.

[sermon] Hey everyone in the 80 forum..

I've been watching these threads and FYI, the blocking of the part images is only a Stateside U.S. issue. It's easy enough to use another site's information or to also just change your I.P. to an offshore point, which while affecting download times, will fix your ability to view things on ..diy.

I wil simply offer the suggestion that if you have the access to the information, and can download both the images as well as the part numbers, (well, let's be honest, the pics are in a way worth more than the rest b/c you can match things up), save them to your hard drive along with some FSM's.

I've saved all of our files, both repair's and the electronic diagrams, covering the 89-95 Truck/4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, 80/100 series along with the relevant parts diagrams and thrown them into a flash card.

All of what we have worth over $250.00 in disc and paper, onto a drive that takes less than 1 gig of space.

I have the flash drive with me when we travel and guess what? It has already paid for itself, middle of the Sierra's with a small issue, shop didn't have the info handy, so we put the fc in and got the diagnostic and repair info as well as part numbers.

Think ahead here and you'll benefit more in the end, right? "The best answer to adversity is adaptation.." or something along those lines, I can't remember the exact quote here.

In other words, yeah this sux, but we can as consumers prevail, right up to and including signing the "Right to Repair" bill into effect here: http://righttorepair.org/

[/sermon]

Side topic, C-Dan, pretty sad that even people who are of a certain company or, technically, a "franchise" cannot get access themselves, WTF...

Then again, I end up going to you anyhow for that shock idea, funny huh how life works like this.
