Toyota sucks for doing this:

The diagrams are no longer available on this site. For reasons that are beyond our comprehension, Toyota of North America kept harrassing our ISP about them. It seems that they are really interested in quick profits from new car sales, so it is in their best interest that old cars fall apart asap.

The progress of course cannot be stopped, and the diagrams are available on numerous other websites around the world, so we feel this change will not have a significant negative impact on Toyota DIY-ers. Just google something like 78-01 ACCELERATOR LINK 78111C, and you shall find it.

WTH???

You still get PN's but not the diagrams???

What a bunch of douche bags!!!!

I guess that's better than nothing, but still...

Never even heard of the site. I get all my part #s from the EPC. Good to know it is around.

I still seem to see diagrams, at least on non-USA hdt-80.
which makes me happy.

It's called intellectual property rights. I'm surprised it was around as long as it was. Toyota is fierce about protecting them.

while I respect toyota's rights to protect the diagrams, I'm sorry that Toyota doesn't see the benefit of helping enthusiasts find part numbers.

Well within their rights, but it doesn't seem sensible.

My assumption is it's one of those camel's-nose-under-the-tent things.

I HATE it when the camel puts his nose in my tent.

The worst.

I'll bet you're right. Still unfortunate, IMO. Just means that Toyota parts gurus have to do more work for us instead of us doing it ourselves. Which is a pity because in the end, the consumer will suffer as parts gurus waste time finding part numbers vs. filling orders (which will hurt Toyota as well).

Still... I respect Toyota's right to protect what is theirs. Just wish it were different.

I'm still seeing diagrams for my JDM HDJ81. I hope this continues to be the case, since the local parts guys are a but reluctant and lost when I come in telling them I have a JDM. Much easier if I can give them a part number, then they either can get it or they can't.

immages are blocked for me.

I tried to look at a European HDJ80 earlier today and got zilch.

EPC Torrent

Why not just download the Toyota Electronic Parts Catalog?

Yes; it is a bit of pain in the ass to download and install it, but once you have it installed on your computer you can just copy and paste the the EPC files to every computer in your home.

I even have it on a thumb drive for when I am on the road.

i tried downloading it but it would always fail. toyodiy shouldnt worry about copy rights, they are here for customer service:p

I sent him an email asking him if he'd consider donations to move it to a host outside the US where there are more liberal copyright laws.

BTW, the guy who has been mentioned selling Toyota/Lexus EPC on DVD is "Jake" (pbgbottle) on Mud.

He's a VERY nice guy and just as a back-up you might want to have his disc(s) handy.

Rick,

I thought that the site was doing some updating and didn't think that it was down/gone, but got nervous when i first started reading this thread, fwiw.
