It was about 85 on the way out and the transmission stayed right at about 200. I set the cruise at 70 and it pulled the hills with ease. This was the first time to have these boats on this rack at freeway speeds and it worked just fine. The hitch is still a bit high so I will move it down on the shank to the last hole before the next trip. The 200 is a really great a tow vehicle.

I passed a 2013+ medium grey LX headed east in southern Missouri pulling a small camper. Was it one of you?

I have noticed the same on mine at the same load/ speed. I’ve really wondered if it’s a misfire, but it’s never thrown a light.. it’s done it a handful of times

It does feel like a misfire now that you mention that. I just scanned with my OBD and nothing. Mine is doing it anytime the scenario I described is presented.

I’ve read that the 5.7L pulls 10-13 degrees of timing on 87 fuel. It’s not a misfire, but under a load at RPMs that are below peak torque (which comes on at 3600rpm), it might be what you’re noticing?
Since you mentioned fuel there is a change on that front that has taken place on this trip. I typically use 89 ethanol free fuel, on this trip I’ve filled up 3 times with 91 and it’s been no more than 10% ethanol. The jerking feeling has happened while on this trip after the 91 full ups. I wonder if this has anything to do with that?

Currently I’m in a parking lot in Gillette, WY about to fox another unrelated issue that’s developed on this trip, the. We head back off grid to parts unknown. Is there anything I should check before we leave or just ignore this for now? My wife has even noticed it so she’s slightly concerned about getting remote.

One other factor to add is we dove through instance rain and I have a snorkel… I feel it prudent to pull the air filter and see if it got wet or something. Other than that I’m at a loss.

I have not felt this issue in 4lo while towing, we wrapped about 100 miles of that this morning without issue, as soon as accelerated on pavement in 4H we could feel the jerking.

It’s worth a look on the air filter. But I doubt that’s your problem

I bought mine LX570 exclusively for towing. I tow open trailer with a race car...about 4000lbs plus bunch of tools in the trunk.
It's been great for 6 years and 70k miles.
AHC is great for loading the car and for changing angle of the ramps of trailer to load the racecar.
Comfort is another thing, super comfortable for long drives.

If I am going to replace the hitch on my 200, should I go factory, or is there a much better aftermarket option? On my van, I could have gone factory, but installed a Class IV because I like "headroom." :) I'm not just looking to spend money for no reason, the chain tabs on mine are rusty, and I think they're compromised to the point they wouldn't perform their prescribed duty should the need arise. I won't likely ever tow with the LC, but if the need arises, I don't want any excuses.

The hitch on the 200-series isn't a bolt on affair. It's integral to the rear frame member and as beefy as they come.

If the chain tabs are getting compromised, might need to be a custom weld repair.

Well, thank you for the information, but damn. I haven't pulled my bumper, but first glance looks like there are some issues. Thanks again for the insight.

Just hit the road on our first proper long distance trip with the Intech Explore. All other excursions have been to nearby state parks. We’ll be taking this to the mountains and hitting some very minor off road situations.

Towing wonderfully through east Texas wind farms. Overdrive off, 3k rpms, 70mph, a tad over 10mpg.

I’ll probably keep an eye on temp today as we’ll hit some elevation.

My truck boiled gas, and had to have codes reset every 20 minutes coming over Monarch Pass pulling my camper, even when fed non-ethanol. My 100 had a similar response to heat/altitude. Sure be nice if Toyota could figure this out with their newest LC.

I'm literally browsing Lance models right now and day dreaming. Which one is that? Might be a 1985?

How do you folks with kids manage sleeping arrangements in your travel trailers? Dedicated bunks/beds, convert the dinette every day, other options? I can't help thinking that not having a dedicated bed for kid(s) would be a huge pain, but on the flip side, trailers with dedicated bunks are huge and heavy...
