I'm a little confused. I think you're asking which trailer I think is great. Right? We have really enjoyed the Casita. The Starcraft hybrid was pretty good as well but the Casita is waaaaay easier to tow. And it's pretty fun to go minimal with what we pack for camping. Makes packing a little easier and quicker. Starting to consider going even smaller though. Maybe an off-road teardrop with a roof top tent. No bathroom though so that is a hurdle we have to get past.
Ok that is what I thought you were saying but really wasn't sure...
Rode by one of these the other day near my house. Never seen or heard of them but seems interesting...
 
Following. Looking to trade in our diesel truck and 5th wheel for a 17-19 ft bunk house or hybrid to pull behind the LC (or GX). I like the weight to room ratio with these. Many of them are in the 3200 lb range, which seems doable in the mountains with 5 people, loaded. Anyone had something similar? Here is an example:

phatdragon, I am looking at small BH and hybrid's too. We went to a dealer the carries Kodiaks last weekend, they didn't have the 183e in stock. Said she won't have it until Nov. Looked at a Jayco 17xfd this weekend, beds are short though, I am 6'2 so that wont work. I would just get a pop-up but my wife is not on board, to much work and not enough storage with 3 small kids she says. I am might be leaning towards the NOBO 19.8 but its 3800# dry, I was trying to keep it under 3500#. Never towed a TT before, maybe I am being to conservative. I have '06 LX470 stock.
 
Traded in the 16 year old fifth wheel for a Kodiak Cub 172e this weekend. We also have 3 kids and with the 2 queen beds, dinette and pull out couch it can easily accommodate us and the dog etc. We had looked at several brands and the Dutchmen line seemed to have a little better quality control and materials than most, especially for the ulra-light type of travel trailers. All aluminum structure as opposed to wood and steel. Dry weight is about 3200 pounds. Going to pull it behind the truck for now.

The ultimate plan is to pull behind the LC so we can get more places. Any recommendations on 2 inch receivers, weight distributing hitches and brake controllers for our rigs?

The cub looks to be a good layout for a small family. Keep us posted on how you like it!

I run a Tekonsha wireless brake controller. I like it because you can hook the trailer up to different trucks, there is no hard wiring in the truck dash, just a handheld controller that plugs into the AC outlet. I use a Reese anti-sway weight distributing hitch. Very smooth towing, very little affect from passing vehicles, very little appreciable squat with proper tongue weight. Our trailer is a North Trail 21FBS, 5200# dry weight. No issues towing around Florida and Georgia, but not sure how our 4sp trans would do in real hills/mountains.

Yeah, it’s definitely going to be nice to be able to put a real face to some of these screen names. I actually wanted to meet you last year but it being my first time I was so overwhelmed I didn’t get around to seeking you out. I feel like this year will be a lot different. I’m super excited!!!!
How did the truck and trailer do towing to CO?

How did the truck and trailer do towing to CO?
Like a champ. Even towing across Oklahoma were it was 106* the trans temp never got above 170. The passes in between Durango and Silverton were a slow go but not bad at all. Dropped down in to first a few times but that’s what you get towing 4500lbs with 4 people in the truck.
 
Traded in the fifth wheel on the hybrid travel trailer, lost about 6500lbs in 2 hours. I honestly can't believe how much extra stuff I was pulling around. Threw away or donated probably 600 lbs in random stuff we had shoved in there over the years. All the old tent camping stuff for example. Stoked to have a smaller and lighter trailer that I can:

A: Pull behind the LC and get to Ouray/Silverton/Moab within a couple hours, then go wheeling
B: Be able to boon-dock more easily
C: Not have the space to fill with old and uneeded and extra stuff
D: Be able to park, especially with the cruiser
E: Not have to deal with a 15 year old diesel, I could go on...

I have a 80w solar panel that just plugs into the trailer. Any recommendations on 3500-4000 watt gas generators?

Nice trailer. I have a Jayco x19h that is very similar in size/weight. As far as the generator I would recommend the Honda 2200i. The only thing it can't run without modification is the air conditioner. You can buy a easy-start controller for your AC unit that controls how it draws amps when it starts up. It usually spikes to 20-40amps when starting but then settles at 17amps. The controller will keep it from going over 17, so the 2000W generator can handle it too (18.5A max).
 
Pulled our Rpod 180 with our 2002 LX470 from central NC to Cherokee, NC.
6% grade for 5 miles on I-40 - curvy but 3 lanes.
I was not the slowest - did pass some 18 wheeler's.
4-speed Transmission.
Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller mounted in ash tray, Draw-Tite 7509S Hitch, Equalizer 0600 hitch (weight distribution, and sway).
Had to use 2-cd gear up and back down mountain.
Also faced a 9% grade on Hwy US 19.
Surprised that I got 12mpg - but I keep my speed at 60mph on flat roads.
Before I made this trip, I was really concerned, but after doing it I feel pretty good about my LX470.

Hitch is installed but I need to find a better spot for the plugs. Was thinking since my rear bumper cover already has a couple of holes/deep scratches in it, just putting the plugs through the bumper. Has anyone done this, any other ideas on placement?
