Just wanted to post an experience towing with a 2007 GX. No kdds. So the truck already had the towing package harness so I installed the Class III Hidden Hitch from Etrailer. I plugged in a Tenkosha P3 brake controller to the harness that is hidden under the dash. Plug and play. I was towing a 2012 Jay Feather 23xb that has a 4100 lb dry weight. Prolly only had a few hundred pounds of gear in the trailer. We were going to myrtle beach with full hook ups so no need for water. I did have the back of the truck fairly loaded with clothes and a small grill and a couple of empty coolers. We bought groceries once we arrived so really didn't have that added weight. The trip to Myrtle is level towing. Some small ups and downs but nothing major. The air bag leveling system worked great. Thought I may need to use my old weight distribution set and anti away but it wasn't needed. I took a short trip around town and on the closest interstate to check for sway (I was expecting some) but the rig was straight. The shift points weren't the best but not bad. I think the truck used a higher RPM than was needed at times, or rather maintained the lower gear for longer than I thought needed but whatever. Long story short, the rig handled well, braking was good and I averaged 10.5 mpg. My previous tow vehicle was a 2002 GMC Yukon XL. Longer wheel base and better tow truck. But I was pleased with the GX.

I know what you mean about the quirky gear shifting. Mine seemed to want to hang in a gear for what seemed like entirely too long. I however, wasn't towing on flat ground.

Tapping the shifter to the side locking it in a gear wouldn't help to prevent the funky shifting?

That is a much bigger trailer then I am planning on so glad to hear your report.
It did, ya. But even after returning it to drive after a hill or something it would still hang. It's almost like it adapts to pulling a trailer. It's been totally fine since though.

It does adapt. I am fairly certain if you have a tow package and hook up the wiring it changes the shift patterns to hold gears longer. I would have to confirm that, but I have felt it.

There's no doubt it adapts, as all modern transmissions do. It doesn't, however change anything when the wiring is hooked up, as it has no idea. The connector has power when the truck is running. If that were the case, it would shift the same when pulling a small 200lb collapsible trailer as it would pulling 6,000lbs.
