Torfab BMW bracket issue...any advice?

Thank you for clearing that up for me @NookShneer

Looks like I will be making my own bracket. Now to find some of the rare Natural Brown leather seats...

I've also been looking at the Cinnamon brown leather seats, which could be a good match. Spendy though.

I am looking to also make this change and am searching for seats....the @torfab site states their brackets fit any BMW 3 series seat 1995 and newer...I know that E46 seats are 1995 to 2006 and then the E90 model follows. My question is will E90 seats also fit?

I have early E-90 seats, and they fit just fine. They have the stupid electric lock-out 'feature' where the seats will not power adjust after 10 minutes of having power supplied to them. I added a switch from Radio Shack to the seat and simply leave it 'off' and turn it on when I want to adjust the seats and then power off the seats. That way, the seats remain adjustable when I want them to be. Beware the air bags on later seats and don't apply power to the bright yellow harnesses under the seats.

Thanks Steve, that's great to hear! So should I stay away from seats that have the air bags on them?

@JToobe Avoid the yellow wire! That's what I've read here...

So I've been searching, I thought I saw something that @torfab was making these for the early 60's??? I was on my iPad and now I can't find the thread...am I just crazy? Dreaming? Anyone?

They posted on the Torfab instagram page a couple weeks ago. They are still in development. Maybe another couple weeks give Adam a call at Torfab and ask to be given a call/email when they are available. Involves cutting out the seat bracket pedestals (front channel / rear). in order to get the seat height close to stock. Significantly more involved than the bolt on option for late 60's floor pan.

You will find many BMW seats with airbags and they can easily be used - just don't start hooking up 12v wires to anything under the seat without studying the wiring first and avoiding the yellow-jacketed wires.

I asked a friend about the air bags...... as noted don't power the wires to the air bags and you should have no issues. I would cut the air bag power wires back and then tape them up so that you can't make the mistake of grabbing the wrong wires on the install. Be careful and ensure you do not screw with the air bag harness in any way (energize it).

Does anyone have any advice for hooking up power seats? I recently bought two front power seats from a 2003 BMW 3-Series for my '90 FJ62 and the Torfab seat brackets but don't have any idea how to install power to be able to adjust the seats. Thanks in advance.
