Took LX in to dealership for oil change today, no acceleration after

Have they told you what the CEL code was? I'd start with that.
I did not get that info. Wonder if they have documented all of this..usually receive emails with service notes while my vehicle is there for typical service, have recieved nothing since my receipt for the oil change yesterday.

I have a code reader, would I be able to pull the history and see what it was myself? Probably depends how nice e my reader is I reckon.

Update, went to pick it up just now, rep pulled up in it, CEL was still on along with VSC trac and VSC off. He asked if those are normally on, no they're not. Vsc track and off I think will blink for a while after the battery has been disconnected or something like that, but these were all solid.

He went and parked it and brought the loaner back to me. I brought my reader so I got the keys and went to check the codes. When I cranked it up, there were no lights...I dont know if maybe they wouldn't come on until I put it in drive? I thought it was weird they were gone just like that.

Even still no light on, reader pulled 2 codes. I'm still otw back home so haven't searched them yet, but wanted to share in here first.

Especially frustrating if you only told them to change the oil and the new defect was caused by them doing the usual free multipoint check that is so common.

I'd ask for new MAF sensor!

So very careless R&R of air filter, damaging MAF sensor and or wires to it or just didn't reconnect wire housing firmly. The battery should be disconnect and MAF wires disconnect/connected. Wait 20 minutes and then reconnect battery.

As I said earlier, they had no reason to remove MAF/wires, just to replace air filter. Doing so indicates, tech really didn't have a clue when it comes to our 100 series, nore much of a mechanic! Even to vacuum out air box it's not needed.

If as, was suggested earlier. They removed air filter and started engine without replacing it. They then, suck debris into intake (throttle body and intake manifold). You may see signs of debris inside intake manifold. They then remove air box lid, air pipe and MAF to clean.

Some Dealerships have great mechanics. These shops take care of (pay, insurance, benefits), their people. Other shops can't keep a good mechanic, since they don't take care of them. Look for Dealership, that shop has very low turnover rate, is best bet.

The question is do I let them continue working on it, or tell them to just buy me the part and I'll take it from here? Also could the bad terminal and voltage fluctuations be causing it all?

Just read through this and i did something similar. I disconnected the MAF and forgot to plug it in and when i started up the LX it almost immediately threw a CEL. Freaked myself out and went to check and quickly noticed my blunder. Reconnected it and cleared the code and everything was okidoki. I’m pretty certain the tech forgot to reconnect the MAF

Let them finish correcting, this one last time.

If you mean a battery terminal. No not really, in the short term. In the long term. Long term the increase in resistance and low voltage, can damage motors. i.e brake booster motor, fuel pump, etc.. but this would take months if not years.

A bad MAF sensor can take out a CAT, fast. Not just in a few minutes, but fast. Say drive around town 30 minutes, than HWY 30 minutes.

I'd be mostly concerned with what debars that may have suck into intake. The air filter, protect the valve guides, valve seats, cylinder walls and rings.

Sorry this is happening to you.
I would ask exactly this.
Maybe ask the service manager if they quit doing this service? I would be curious to their answere.

Supposedly ready for pick up. Says his guy put 42 miles on it and no lights at this time. I missed his call but that's what he texted me.

Sorry I never came back to this thread, been a busy week. I picked it up Tuesday, they didn't do anything more from Sat-Tues as they never could trigger the CEL again in 42 miles they drove it. When I got in, there was no light but my reader was still showing the two MAF codes that I'd pulled on Saturday. I cleared them and nothing has come back and no pending codes in the 300+ miles I've driven since. So it seems like every thing worked out thankfully. Still gotta drive 5 hours back home tomorrow so hope I didn't just jinx it!
