Looking to get into a 100 and found this truck on Offerup for 11,500 with 145k miles. It's a NE truck so has definitely seen some salt, but I don't know enough to judge if this is an acceptable level of rust.

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures seeing as there are only two but that does not look like an $11.5 truck to me, even with 145k on the clock. I would say hard pass as it seems that is a considerable amount of rust.
She sure is crusty. I'd pass. Rust makes working on older vehicles like this difficult, and you're going to spend a good amount of time working on it.
This will still give someone years of service before it actually falls apart, but resale value won't be there unless you can find someone who can understand rust. Though i wouldn't pay 11.5K for it, but i think if you can get them down to 9-10 it would be a good pick up given if the drivetrain is sound and all maintenance is up to date.
I will definitely stay away from rust, especially if i am going to invest in building one of these for overlanding. I have a 2000 100 series lexus with arb front bumper and 2" old man emu lift, new BF goodrich tires, newly upholstered front seats, 150K miles that i am interested in selling. I am in houston. Absolutely no rust.
Hell I'm in CT and that's pretty bad. Just looking at what you gave. Who knows what the brake lines running along the body looks like. If you can get it cheaper and just gonna run then hell why not.

I think rust is a bit of a bigger deal on an LX because of the potential for the AHC lines to rust and you'd have a hard time replacing one section. Personally, it's too much for me on any vehicle, but especially so for an LX.
You're going to end up replacing brake lines, AHC lines and rear HVAC lines, all while constantly spraying PB blaster on everything and getting rust chunks in your eyes. Take a little PTO, grab a plane ticket down south and get a crust-free one.
