Hey y'all,

I've had my LX470 for a couple years now. I truly think I've taken good care of it for the most part. But I do live in a place that heavily salts the roads, and so rust has always been an issue on my mind. After looking at the undercarriage for the first time in a bit, the rust is a lot worst than I remember. Most of it (to my inexperienced eye) looks pretty average/manageable. However, there's one spot that has really eaten into the frame a bit. I need advice - I recently decided to try and sell the car for other reasons. I obviously don't want to screw over a new owner with this issue though. But is it beyond repair? Or could any welding / coating fix this so I can sell the car with good conscience? Or is it to the point of selling for parts :'(. Any advice is appreciated.

might want to look into dry ice blasting and having it undercoated if you’re thinking about keeping it. It runs about 2500 near me.

This is exactly like we see in the UK, mine looks similar, perhaps slightly less severe in places but perfectly treatable. The section you've pictured looks to be on one of the chassis crossmembers near the rear? If so, it's a common spot to go when you live somewhere with rust issues - mine had that section cut out and welded.

I sought out some rust advice a few months ago, to do it properly will take time and money to treat the stuff you have, if you're planning on selling it then I would reflect this in the price rather than going down the route of repairing it all (I assume it would cost you a lot more than you'd get back).
