Looks to be for a Land Cruiser one piece transfer case. If that is true he looks to be a little late to the table. Toyota had just switched to the split case with the 81 model. Fairey already had most the of the one piece market which was now only going to get smaller. Fairey did come out with a overdrive that looked something like this one but it replaced the whole rear transfer case housing. I think the cost of the overdrive with the almost completely new housing and the 3:70s diffs limited the number of new customers.:meh:

I do lnow the Fairey is not listed as working with the 79/80 model FJ40 because of clearance issues. This case looks like it might be narrower and may have fit:hhmm: So did you find a Todd overdrive?

One of the crazier OD T-cases to cross my path over the years. I have seen the remnants of two of those.

Interesting thing is that the housings had markings on them that said 'Advance', tho I'm virtually certain it was NOT AA.

I'm not sure if I still have the box of parts from the one I pulled off a customer's trans for a stock t-case install, or if I tossed them.

IIRC, the principle was very similar to the Stroudski.

:meh:

thinking of building a todd overdrive? :hmm:
Actually, I just bought one. I bought a 2F + 4 speed transmission + transfer case + Todd Overdrive + the 4 speed drive shafts. I've done some searching on YouTube and stuff, and there doesn't seem to be much of anything out there about the Todd Overdrive units. Can you tell me more about them?
