Hey guys,

I'm about to swap out the TREs on my 1972 FJ40. I can't find any torque specs on the TRE clamps in the FSM. Does anyone know where to find the right specs?

There's no torque setting for TREs hand tighten until the castle nut lines up secure cotter pin and you are done.

They're clamps - squeezing the tie rod inner threads onto the threads of the TRE. Don't need a bolt's torque to have them do what they do. It's like you don't torque hose clamps, sorta'.

I still put a torque wrench on them to avoid OVER torquing the bolt.
I find that when I don't over torque the fasteners on my '40, I can more easily disassemble things for general maintenance.
