Thanks for the responses!

So I did determine it is most likely the input shaft bearing. I sourced a transmission off of marketplace and it supposed to be out a of 1981 FJ60. Got home and went to replace it and the tail shaft on the new one is 10” and original one is 6”. So what transmission did I buy?? Attaching pics of it, I may start a new thread if you all feel like I should.

that is the longer 85+ trans.
it has the adaptor housing at the rear to make up the difference in an H55 versus the H42 that we got in the US

I appreciate that guys, what is the fifth gear spacer? What options do I have with that transmission? Maybe a shorter drive line? Besides looking at the transmission are there any markings to tell me which transmission it is, I don’t wanna get into the same predicament.

the H55, 5 speed, is longer than an H42, 4 speed.
when Toyota kept giving the US market H42's instead of the H55, they made the H42 the same length as the H55 using the rear extension housing. that way all the drivelines would be the same whether an H42 or H55

look at your old H42 and look at the new H42 and you will see the difference between them.
Easier to get the correct transmission that you need. you need an 81-84 H42 either from a 40 or 60 series.

Thank you @3_puppies! Do you think it’s possible just to replace the input shaft bearing without total disassembly? That’s the main issue and I think I maybe in over my head with the split case transfer case.

Replacing the front bearing on these transmissions isn’t for the faint of heart or inexperienced. Even transmission shops struggle with it a bit. The job requires a special bearing puller and good luck finding a replacement front bearing. Maybe they’re still available but not from Toyota.
I strongly don’t recommend a newbie trying to do this job - unless you don’t care if the tranny gets wrecked & you’re going to trash it anyway.

well that certainly is a "hot damn!" idea
Well, whoever came up with this idea deserves a kiss - well, wait a minute, we're both dudes so it will have to come from my dog (she's real cute!).
Bought the HF cheapy, drilled two holes 6" apart along the very front edge, and all the way to the left. Bolted the front transmission mount to the top of the jack and viola!! worked like a charm! Easiest stab I ever did!

@CruiserTrash this'd work, too.
