White Knuckle sliders drying out front. Hope to install one night this week.

Looking good!

Thanks guys. Yeah I just hope I don't scratch them up just trying to get them bolted on... they weigh like 75# a piece.

Gonna try an knock out the water pump and thermostat tonight if it doesn't get too cool and if my little helper will give me some time.

So my To-Do

-Sort out my dead headlights - DONE
-Install LED Bar - MOUNTED, MODIFYING PIAA HARNESS
-Install Slee headlight harness
-Install new Alternator
-Install fusible links
-Plugs, wires, rotor & cap
-Change Belts
-Check knuckles & grease as needed
-Sliders - PAINTED, DRYING, WILL INSTALL THIS WEEK
-Firm up the Battery retainer, it moves too much for me these days
-Order and install a pair of military battery clamps
-Sort out my winch controller
-Change Oil and Filter
-Check Diffs, change as needed
-Have AC serviced :)princess: has made this a priority!)
-replace passenger side mirror
-replace hatch struts
-replace LCAs - PAINTED READY TO INSTALL
-adjust valves and install new valve cover gasket
-replace pcv and grommet
-replace thermostat - BROKE A BOLT IN HOUSING, ON-DECK FOR TOMORROW
-change waterpump - DONE
-order new air filter - DONE

Made some headway today, got the sliders painted, and then dove into the waterpump. Whoever laid out the cooling system on the front of the 3FE should be forced to change a water pump on one. The main hose from the bottom of the Radiator is in the worst place and the clamps are d@%$ near impossible to get to. Took me nearly 4 hours to get it off and just the pump back on.

I broke one of the bolts that holds the top half of the thermostat housing off in it. Fortunately it left about 3/4" sticking out, so I have it double-nutted and soaking in PB blaster to hopefully get it loose tomorrow.

I hope when that is done and I can get the valve cover off, then I should knock out several things. Clock is ticking and I am getting a little nervous.

Nice. If you weren't all the way in east TN, I'd be glad to keep my paint fume buzz going for another day or two.

They are hella heavy to manhandle. The Cat protection looks solid. I used rustoleum etching primer and one big (14 oz) can of gloss black per slider. Make sure to get some thinner or something and wipe all the mill scale off so the paint will stick. Just a quick tip, if you are working on the ground like I was, I used a block of 4x4 to prop the short leg up to make it easier to get to the underside to paint.

We should get a poser picture at GSMTR and send to WKOR.

One of the big things I can do is pray to be able to go to this awesome event! I have a large contract at work starting that week... might be tough! Hoping to come and camp Friday/Saturday night. Now that I have a stocker, it's pretty easy to get ready for trails, compared to you dudes! I need to do PHH (kit in garage), change oil... is that lame or what? I'm sure by next year, the lx450 will be a bit more built...

Looking forward to wheeling with you guys...

cheers,
Joel

Cool, hope you can make it!

My list is getting longer, not shorter. :(

Oil change, alignment, transmission fluid top off.

Still gotta finish flipping the beadlocks; two down, two to go.

I feel your pain.

My list is actually getting shorter for a change. All that's left is valve cover gasket and putting the cage in. I'm sure I will find some last minute stuff to freak out about. :bang:

Oh you've got me waaay beat. I read your rant yesterday - damn! :frown:

Yeah, I was a little upset yesterday, calmed down some, talked to several folks about options and good ole Sam took some more of my $$ today and took dam good care of me so the new housing should get here in a few days. I got plenty to keep me busy til then. I started cleaning the frame rails before dark yesterday, prepping for slider install. Depending on how the night goes will probably try and get the valve cover off, cleaned and painted and then more frame rail prep.

Also, thanks to Peter and Brian at ACC for the advice on the T-stat housing. Apparently bolt "bonding" is pretty common in them and Brian said almost every one they had ever pulled apart had to be drilled, tapped and helicoiled, so that made me glad that it didn't just single me out.

EDIT: Didn't get a darn thing done tonight... Wednesdays are usually daddy date night, so me and lil' bit went out for dinner and when I got home it was dark and I was tired. Got a meeting late tomorrow, so looks like the weekend is gonna be 'balls to the wall' trying to get some stuff done. On a positive note my military battery clamps and covers came in, so now just need some ring terminals and maybe some heavy wire for the ground side.

Get exhaust redone on the 80.

Night run at Trailfest last night ended at 3am and with all my exhaust hangers broken (yet again). Now complete with a hole in the exhaust. It sounds too much like a Jeep now. Need to get that fixed ASAP.

Nothing good ever comes from a night run yet we still go! Im sure this is a lesson i will never learn.

Maybe the lesson here is to treat drinking during wheeling trips the same as you would at a party in town: Hand your keys over to someone so you can't get to them. ;)

But in truth, night wheeling for me has been very fun and uneventful up until SCC last year. Since then, yeah......
I a'int skeered though. And I'm positive that Andy will continue to hit the trails with me at night even though his subconcious and better judgement try to get him not to. :steer:

That's why I park the 80 and ride with you at night Steve!!!

:flipoff2:REALLY?!?! Why do you have to put us "Wagon Guys" with the "Sunday afternoon drivers". Some of us "wagon guys" still like to get out and RAPE IT'S ASS TOO! :) that's why we buy armor and skids:flipoff2:

That's smart Rance. You had me convinced for a minute there, but ya know what that does to your rep as a "wagon guy"??? It solidifies it! :flipoff2:
