9,
@ToyotaMatt those look fantastic man! Slightly confused though, my fuse cover and lower dash....all the metal, ....glove box door, AC bezel....etc are a light grey. The actual OEM dash cap however is very dark grey almost a blue grey.
metal and vynil on all toyota 's was shaded to contrast a bit so you knew if base model metal or DX up grade to sweat your azz and legs off Premium JDM Vinyl was the Leather or Pleather of the day
CLOTH was Cressida , CORONA , all GTS and SR5 Sport was KING back in toyota's gilded age of being kool , Maroon , Dark Maroon were my favorites !
the fully adjustable SPORT Seats Rocked the day , Celica Supra had a small Squeeze Ball thingy you would pump up a air bladder in the lumbar !
- full on bench seats all Vinyl and NO A/C , NO P/S , MTM 4speed , 22R carb 2wd Pickup , reg cab = econo-box
i clearly recall the $9,999 staying around more then 2 model years , the 22R carb was killed off so was your average Dealership Employee being able to buy and afford and get approved for A $9,999 toyota p/u or a corolla 4dr same options
TERCEL was more by far ....
STARLET = TOILET did not hang out in USA long at all ,,,,,,,,,,,
problem was if you just had the Coins to afford a $9,999 Toyota new , you did not maintaince like oil changes etc .....
TOYOTA introduced SELECT FIT ROD bearings ,
i scooped up more then my fair share of ROD KNOCKERS from ZERO oil changes or maybe a few and they just ran low below the pickup tube
depending on how bad the rod KNOCK was ?
you would simply replace ALL rod bearings 1 or 2 select fit sizes Smaller ID ,,,,,
typically if you ponied up for fully synthetic motor oil MOBILE 1 or Valvoline back then , bumped up the viscosity grade to say 10w40 or a 10w40 - 20W50 mix 50/50 you could get many more months out of a any toyota and use it to commute to work and back for example
- the real TRICK was to change the OIL and FILTER after say 100-200k tops
this was all the smaller select fit rod bearings SELF Machined them selfs in place
i cut oil filters apart PACKED with bearing Babbot !
the 4cyl car filter had a much taller brother , it was for like a 4AGE or turbo something WAY more filter media to trap stuff
- started running the taller 2UZ-FE filter on ALL my 22R 22RE and V6 applications , after i cut 2 NEW ones apart 4
the real pressure relief valve springs , you SPEC out same as cyl. head valve springs , DITTO same mostly .....
TOYOTA disc. the 15400-41010
its new replacement is 1/3 size part # 90915-40002 made in Thailand
the where its made matters less , the size is my issue ...................!
DENSO makes ALL oil Filters , there new global headquarters and main production facilities are now in Jarkata Indonesia
i never have found the real reason the tall 41010 was AXED ?
my gut says its a NEVER whisper eco LESS OIL use globally to earn some GREEN low CARBON certification , that's my theory , i have never seen this anywhere online ,,,,,plausible YES
now you add the right amount of oil in the glove box owners manual ?
what happens to that Extra 2/3 of a full IMP. QT .............
remember you start engine ,, then turn off and check for leaks
this fills the filter 100%
hence EXTRA 2/3 qt on dip stick ................
i have never seen toyota peep this ?
does it matter ?
F -YES !
less filter media matters to me most !
TOYOTA Diched us hard on the HERITAGE parts program and other things like the 41010 filter ..................they are SAD now ....
