Nothing would make me happier than to add another brown dog birthday post today but instead I have to share the unfortunate news with our ONSC family that Brodi passed last week just a week before we could celebrate. Still dont have the right words for this post but wanted to thank everyone again for making him a club icon and sharing in our adventures over the past decade and a half. And as murphy would have it my cat and his new favorite pal Rio joined him later the same day so I try to find comfort in believing that they are still together in good company of each other and our other furry friends that have gone before them.

RIP Brodi

Jason, I don't have anything to say other than you were extremely lucky to have such a good dog and Brodi Brown was extremely lucky to have you. I'll never forget the efforts you put into recovering him when he went missing. I'll never forget just how cool that dog was! Very sad to hear this news. We'll be thinking of you.

Brodi is riding with goggles on somewhere awesome. He was a great dog. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet the little fur ball!! Rufus will miss him.

@jfz80 you and Brodi are iconic together and individually. He was a most awesome fur-dude, and I'll not forget him. Thanks for the life you gave him, and for letting us share in it. Rest easy (and often), and run free you awesome Brown Dog.

So sorry to hear this, Jason

I guess God was looking for a few good dogs these past few weeks. While traveling out West with us, Leukemia-Bone Marrow Cancer -Liver failure struck down one tough Wolf pup! Bruno was my PTSD therapist and our Marriage counselor. Totally unexpected. He was only 4.5 years old and one of the healthiest Bulldogs our vet had ever seen. We truely thought he was just homesick after 2 months on the road, then we thought maybe he got a hold of some bad water we knew something wasn't right, but he couldn't tell us what.
He stopped eating, had an increased thirst, and we noticed his urine was very dark. That's when we took him to the emergency Vet outside Glacier NP.
He strolled in there like he owned the place, and we joked with the staff how they had already cured him without even examining him.
After xrays and several tests they called us into a private room to tell us how sick he was. His white blood cell count was almost off the scale. They gave him a shot for nausea and a few other prescriptions and told us to get back to NC a.s.a.p.!
I drove like I was back in the Firewagon, the only thing different was I didn't have any lights, sirens, or a badge anymore! Nurse Lucy rode in the back seat with him to give him comfort. Somewhere in Kansas early last Monday we got a hold of our vet back here in Davidson County, he read the reports and suggested we seek IV fluids for our little buddy. We told him our location , driving East on Interstate 40 in nowhere Kansas. While we were still on the phone with him I asked if he thought a Veterinary School was an option? Bingo--- Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas was 1 hour away.
We called ahead and they were waiting for us with a team of specialists. Bruno spent the night and we met with a Cancer specialist the next morning. The tests told an even grimmer story. Decisions had to be made and it was not easy but in the five short days since he was first seen he could barely hold up his head--- Yes Cancer sucks even in dogs.
Let's just say the rest of the drive home sucked too!
Godspeed Bruno--- from one dog to another!!
Hope he's in the best home ever.
