I have no idea how I got into this but I tore my dash apart and am painting it. It had several colors. The dash pad cap was all fxxxed up so I tossed that and am in search of a new dash pad. TPI does not have them any longer and I am not going to spend $500 on that.

I mounted the hard doors and discovered the ones I have are in terrible condition. I have CCOT seals for them so that is another project to tackle.

Now I remember...While I was mounting the doors I was unable to get the top pins in place so I pushed the windshield forward and found a real mess. Spent the last two days sanding and cleaning out the scale and priming and painting the mess.

I have discovered that a red that Rustoleum sells is the perfect match for the red on my truck. Must have been a DIY paint job last time.

Chris,
What is the official status on your hand? You are obviously using it, so is it 100% again?

Happy New Year

Wrenching is my therapy. No pull ups, push ups or punching, hammering hitting (especially fridges). The doc said wrenching was good. I fell on it today during an adventure run and it is a bit arthritic but I think it is better. One more week will be 8 and officially "better".

Thanks for asking.

Drove the 40, oil leak as bad as ever:crybaby:

And we got a damn dog. A lab rescue:

Put on a steering stabilizer from TPI. Not too happy with the fitment but it will do the job. Drove the truck and it ran like s***. Has to be the cold. I need to try to time it again. Got a new timing light not too long ago I haven't tried out.

Chris,
Still running points or have you upgraded the distributor?

Broke out the new timing light today. Worked great. I was running 22 degrees advance  Got it set to 10 degrees at 700 rpm with the petronix. Runs great but is still spewing oil.

Update.
I am sorry to say the dog is gone. She kept running away. It was a sad day, very stressful and we are both guilt ridden but we returned her to Atlanta Lab Rescue. She had figured out how to get out of her collar while we walked her and then she would take off in the hood and it sometimes took hours to catch her. We are sad.

Next. I dropped the rear of the trainy and replaced the tail piece with the double seal one that Poser machined for me. Seems all good. I also replaced the radiator. One thing I need for the radiator is something that will allow me to put a petcock back in it. The radiator is an Autozone aftermarket with a lifetime warranty and it was cheap but the drain is 10mm x 1.50 thread and has no tail piece on it. I am going to try to make something today. It is almost impossible to install the plug.

I am also searching for bids on the frame off paint. I just do not have time to tackle the prep myself. So far I have had two bids $6-$7000. Yikes. That is too much. I would gladly pay $4000. Even $5000 which is what we budgeted. If anyone knowns anyone who is decent and wants to make this scratch let me know.

And thanks to Sean, I started finally working on my half doors. They were on the truck when I got it but the tops we open and the doors were full of mud and debris. I washed them out and wire brushed the inside a bit and washed them out again. When I am satisfied they are dry I am going to spray the inside with some cheapo Rustoleum Rust Reformer. I am sure it is only worth what I paid for it at $5 a can.

The PO did not cut them quite the same but I didn't care enough to trim them. :meh:

Then I will weld them up. I will remove the crank and gears from a stripped window crank set to fill the holes on the inside.

I know, I know, I should be working on my oil leak

I plan to sand them down and shoot them with the red Rustoleum that I discovered matches the truck paint perfectly.

Is your rig going to be ready for events this summer?
I dunno.

I think I have an exhaust leak too. Really between the two gaskets and a valve adjustment, it should be less than a days work. Roger has another oil pan for me so when I get that and a remflex gasket it should get me going.

Put a dash in I got on the board for just $90 shipped. Although it is cracked it is far better than the POS that was in there.

I need to score a couple of these guys though so I can screw it down.

The PO had used sheet rock screws to hold the old dash in. I replaced all the threaded inserts which were all rusted out or seized with rivnuts.

Got the Remflex gasket installed today. My header is really badly warped. I hope the remflex seals it. The #2 exhaust port was not sealed at all with the Autozone graphite seal. I nearly can get a feeler gauge in there now but not all the way so I hope it is sealed.

That means a drive to Manchester on the 8th is not out of the question :grinpimp:
