Chris,
Looks like a good trailer and at a good price. Is the pintle intact under that ball receiver?

Yep. I can just take the nut off and pull out the ball hitch and put a pintle back in. Best of both worlds:bounce:

It drove!!!!!

So I finally got my Advance Auto Parts high pressure line. It worked surprisingly well. It is from a 1978 Jeep CJ V8. Advance pat number 91473 :

I just had to bend the steering box end a bit to make it a snug fit and had to twist the hose just a bit. The Pump end was about 90 degrees out so cork screwing the hose lined it up perfect.

I had a guy at a hydraulic shop make the return end for me so it would go around the side of the bonnet.

I had to cut notches in the front of the radiator mount for the tubing to feed thru. I wrapped the tubing in some pieces of an aluminum can and put tape around that where it may rub on the sharp edges of the radiator mount.

(Just got interrupted by the wife)

Anyways, After I got it all together I filled the radiator and the truck started pretty easy. I commenced to bleed off the PS as well. I had :princess: in the shop to help me watch for any leaks and we got some, it was gas! I shut it down and was able to tighten the fitting on the out put of the mechanical fuel pump easily with a crows foot. It was pretty loose and knowing something about compression fittings, I was confident that was the only problem.

Started it again, no gas leaks! FTW! Continued to bleed off the PS pump. Then my spotter tells me I am leaking, alot! I look and there is coolant spraying out of the water pump! Fxxx! Gimme a break!!!

I continue to examine things and realize after a day, there is a bolt missing from one side of the water pump and figure with the addition of the second belt going the other way, it was causing the leak. I was able to get a tap in the hole and it clean it out without taking everything apart. I got a new bolt in there with some sealant on it checked the other two bottom bolts on the pump to find they were pretty loose too. I got them all good'n'tight and started it up again. NO LEAKS!

I took it down the street and back with all my fingers and toes crossed. Still no leaks. The steering was a bit squirrely and I discovered it was a three turn box, lock to lock. Youch! But it will do.

So the next thing I have to do is get the thing aligned. The toe out is pretty bad right now and I think I have to get the drag link properly adjusted. Then I will get it to the local custom shop to get a good alignment. That should get me pretty well on the road. I think I can put the steering damper that I had on the center arm set up back on this set up no problem.

It will be interesting to see what happens when I get it to speed. Hopefully the bump steer will be no more.

Only thing that happens weird is when I shut the truck down, I hear a hissing of air from either the carb or the steering pump. Don't know what that is but I am sure I will figure it out at the side of the road

Oh Hell Yeah

Rome News Tribune reports 6 minutes ago that lurking the streets of the city of seven hills is a dangerous vehicle. WTF is that! Women and children get off the ******* street....cause its a 40 hittin' the pavement.

Great news and am glad to hear it!!!!

I was terrified i was going to simply blow a hose or something at the end of my neighborhood street and have to tow it back to the house with the Government Car...ore worse, the NISSAN!

Check it - cross post from TuT:

OK. So I am back from the BBq. Enroute we had no difficulties but I did note that the temp went a little higher than I would have liked but it was just at about 2/3 - 3/4 so we chugged along. Hit about 55 according to the speedo so on the 35" M/Ts I guess we were doing above 60. I would have to put that into one of those calculatorvadfxxxers to figure it out fer sher.

Anywho, we got there and I noted radiator fluid spewing everywhere and discovered it was leaking pretty good at the splitter for the heater on the out of the radiator. I borrowed a screw driver (I neglected to bring any tools or even a knife, gun, badge or flashlight with) and tightened the clamp and sealed the leak. I let the fxxxer cool and noted the level was still high. I slid the Mule so it was facing uphill, ran it with he cap off and it bubbled and then started spewing out the cap so I sealed it up and said screw it. After all, it is only a few miles. Earlier I said it was 4 but I guess it is more like 10.
I opened the heater valve again just for the helluvit to see what would happen.

We had an awesome dinner - fillet minion that was supposed to be $45.00 and my buddy said he got out of the Kroger at $4.50 (lalalalalalalalal I no hear you lalalalala) and some great cR0n.

After a couple beers (I took it very EZ) we "sped" off. Still looked god on the temp. No problems on the way home. Got it up to 60 on the speedo and we were hoppin and boppin all over the road. My gear box is 3 turn stop to stop Everything seemed pretty tight tho.

Got home and noted the oil pressure seemed a bit low (i know I have the front leak so I need to check the level) but the temp stayed pretty steady. But as I pulled into the garage, there was a loud bang from the rear and it shook the truck. I backed up, saw no puddle pulled forward and parked.

No radiator fluid pissing. I did lose a dash light, no biggy.

So we drove nearly 20 miles and some of that was over 60 mph. No disasters. A few gliches but nothing major.

And it only took three years.

Well to be able to get out and really enjoy this I need to do just a couple more things. looks like I will have to replace the oil pan gasket - again, and I have a double sealed speedo gear housing to install. Then I can put on my skid plate (stock). At that point I will start repairing the roof and doors.

Oil pan gasket done. I fear I am leaking from the front seal, which, you guessed it, I already replaced.

No one - I repeat - no one ask me to replace seals for them :crybaby:

I am going to try to retorque everything up front. It also appears I have quite a seep of oil around the fuel pump. I will try to address this as well.

Gimme a friggin break Toyota Gods!!!!!

I sat under the truck yesterday, while it was running which was very uncomfortable. It appeared I had a pretty good seep at the fuel pump. The timing chain cover is seeping a bit too. I tightened everything but I am sure the fuel pump seal needs replacing.

Will this never end :crybaby:

Fuel pump leak fixed. I also discovered a great rattle can that matches the truck. But for now I have a broken hand and nothing will move fr 6 weeks. I am a dork.

Small oil seeps are good, they allow a quick visual check of fluids, when they quit seeping then you check fluid levels and add fluids as necessary . It's time you get a Truck on the trail, this build thread is approaching a Guinness record.

It seems pretty substantial.

I was in the process of putting on my doors when I broke my hand.

I have just a hand full of other things to do.

Mount the skid plate
Mount the doors and hard top (I am going to restore all with rattle can)
Put in my double rear parking brake seal
Get a CB to be trail legal
Adjust the valves (been a while)
