Hey Jack,
Sorry if I missed it, but what size tires are those youre running?

K

Looking sweet , and thanks for all the info.

It just made it real clear to me to just bring my thirds to a shop.

ken

That is what I would recommend. I really thought it would be easier and I learned a lot, but by the time you spend soooo much time screwing with them and learning all of the tricks, you could be installing them if you had taken them to a shop.

You don't think it would be easier/faster the second time?

Well, you see, there's that PEELER curse for all things Toyota Mechanicals that seem to get in the way of progress...poor guy...

Maybe...I'm just not sure I want to find out.

Looks very nice Jack.

I was going to ask you to help me when the time came for my 40.:grinpimp:

I no speaka da gears.

Looks very nice Jack.

Thanks.

Just another update, I got the front axle unlocked. I just didn't have the fork fully disengaged when I put it together. Got it out on the road and calibrated the speedometer, it drives and rides pretty good. So far I am very pleased.

The other good news is that I am driving up to Grass Valley on Monday morning to pick up my 4x4labs rear bumper kit. Can't wait to get started on that.

Sigh, here we go again....:D

How was the Yellow box installation? Pretty simple?

Kickass Jack!!!

Thanks Dylan. I should be able to complete Deer Valley this summer.

I know, I'm never going to learn am I?

As far as the speedo correction, I used Mark's box from Slee. It is made for 80's and adapts to other vehicles. Anyway, route the wire through a hole that is already there, under the carpet on the tranny hump near the fire wall. Find the plug above the t-case front output shaft, unplug, plug in t-splice and start messing with the dip switches. I got up on the freeway and compared the speedo to gps and figured out the percentage error and adjusted accordingly. The graph they provide is not really clear, so it took a few tries to get it dialed in. The speedo is labout 5 to 6/10th's faster than the gps now, I can live with that.

Let's see the pics of the bumper kit. I've been talking to Luke trying to get the hj45 down there, but everytime I do, it snows.

Show us the bumper kit.

I'll try and get some pics tonight. I got started yesterday afternoon. So the rear frame/crossmember has already been cut. The side wings are bolted on and I have been fine tuning the main shell. It saves a bunch of time, but still needs to be "massaged" into place for everything to fit exactly right.

Both Luke and Brian were super nice and easy to deal with. Lots of cool stuff going on there.

I'll keep you updated.

Jack

OOOOOH yeah!
Fine tuning the bumper...
Know a little bit about that!

Cant wait to see the pics!

Ok here are the pics. These are of the side wings and the lack of rear crossmember.

Here is the second set.
This first one of the frame trimming.
The second one is of the wing bolted on the inside of the frame.
The third one is of the main bumper channel.

The massaging comes from getting the main channel to line up with the wings, so the welding can begin.

Too much fun.

Very kewl.

Can you sorta keep track of the hours it's taking you. I'm going to pick up mine within the next two weeks. I think I'm going to do double tire swingouts since I scored a new Long Ranger Aux. tank from the Land of Oz.

So Jack...is that a bolt together sort of deal, or do you have to weld it up yourself?
I was of the impression that you just bolt the sucker on there and call it "right"?

Looks sturdy if nothing else.
