Looking through the @jomelo mustard thread at the amazing work the @wngrog is doing. Noticed this heater pipe cover on mustard and realized 1. I had never noticed it on a 40 before 2. Remember seeing it in my box of parts wondering where it belonged.
Cleaned it up, shot it with POR-15 DTM silver and installed. The second bolt is broken. I need to remove it from the firewall so I can get it in

I have been fixated on this rust just above the headlight pull where the windshield dash knob screw goes.
I was thinking that channel between the dash and windshield frame might be rusty so I developed a plan to fold the windshield down, clean any rust with CLR and apply fluid film a la @wngrog patina preservation. Cleaned the upper dash pad retaining clip and the dash screw knob brackets with CLR and sprayed with black rust converter And added stainless hardware. While everything was apart I replaced gasket under the windshield frame and replaced a cracked dash pad with one from fj40dash.com.

More photos. I am just waiting for the wiper motor and interior light wiring grommets to arrive so I can button up the window. Not before I get a couple of rides in with the wind shield down

Still have a few areas of rust to treat on the windshield frame with CLR, Fluid film

In the second to last photo, did you glue that packing to the windshield frame? I bought the same thing from CityRacer and was curious how to attach it. TIA
Yes. Clear weather strip adhesive

New wiper arms and blades…now I have to find time to install bilsteins and @SMG stainless windshield pins. My laundry list of things I want keeps growing including these seats. This is what known as keeping up with @wngrog. Was hoping to have a soft top on by now but it just hasn‘t been in the cards. Will be putting the hardtop and doors back on soon. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Are those the same ones that Nolan installed in mustard? Thinking about putting my top back on soon as well. How are you storing your top?

Hahaha. Keeping up with @jomelo not me.

BTW, if you have an air hammer just keep the hinges bolted on and pop the old pins off and put the new ones on with it on the truck. Way easier.

Don’t forget the locktite

You absolutely want those seats in this 40. Such an amazing difference.

Just bought my first air compressor and an air hammer.
lubricated the hinges when I had the windshield down a few weeks ago.

Top and ambulance doors on for the winter season. Fronts go on tomorrow. Had a few areas where the weather striping needed to be touched up. Hope to tackle those windshield hinge bolts as well.

Merry Christmas mudders. It is hard to believe it was 2 years ago today when the Iron Yak rolled into my life as a surprise present from Mrs. Clause. This 40 has come a long way. My son and I have really enjoyed spending time together while working on her. Hope you all have a great day.
