Dissassembled. Hope to finish cleaning tomorrow and get some POR 15 on the bad areas. And a coat of topcoat. I will reassemble with stainless hardware. I’m under the gun as it will be used as the back drop for our family Christmas photo this coming Sunday.

I got the roof rack finished and mounted. The POR 15 finish isn’t smooth but it is super durable. I do not have the proper equipment to spray it. So I brushed it on. The topcoat chassis black is real nice. Overall I am happy with it. Reassembled with all stainless hardware.

The PO cut out the radio slot to accommodate a newer stereo leaving me with this. I was never happy with it as it left gaps on either side even when I put the radio delete plate over it.
@Rustinator provided me the info for this rocker switch panel. This makes me so happy because it fit perfectly with no further modification, it looks so much cleaner, and gives me space to add some lights, etc. in the future. Here are a couple of switches I have ready. One for me and one for my kids.

Lance,

Your truck looks great. Very nice build.

Do you know if those axle breathers will fit my '74 axles? I believe the axle breathers are the same but I don't know for sure.

I hope they will because I need some.

Russell,
Thank you. Good question about the breathers and 74. i think what you need to know is if your 74 has BSPT 1/8 by 28 TPI threads. I watched this Youtube video which led me to these Nissan Breathers. Maybe it will help.

I ordered online nissanautomotiveparts.com
$6.50 each

I’m in the same boat as you, I trimmed a piece of aluminum to fit the larger opening and painted it black. Looks better than a big hole but I like your solution a lot - can you give me some info on where to find that switch panel? Thanks!

These are modular. I purchased 2 of these and added 1 piece to the other 6 giving me 7 switch slots which fit perfectly in the hole the PO left me.

Thanks for the info! Build looks great by the way, you’ve done an awesome job with your 40!

Have just been enjoying it the past few weeks. Took my family to hike a few miles on the Florida Trail.
My son got to put some miles on his One Wheel. Bay wanted to be co pilot however my wife was riding shotgun therefore he took what he could get

Some of this will be included in the what have you done thread. In the last few days..added SMG door pins.
Replaced the bushings on the front springs. This was a colossal PIA. I had no idea it would be so difficult. My 40 has a 2 and 1/2 inch HFS lift kit therefore the original bushings were removed long ago. Removing some of the bolts was terrible.
Front end is done. It took me about 5-6 hours. I’ll do the back end another time. To finish the day I installed the platform onto my confer roof rack. When I was all finished for the day I checked the mail to find the new Toyota Trails magazine had arrived. Happy.

I cannot believe it was January 16th for the last post. Mostly I have been driving the Iron Yak and enjoying.
A few small projects here and there. I ordered a bolt on tailgate 2 weeks ago to be shipped to my brother for paint.
I have one kid in volleyball and one in lacrosse so the last 6 weekends have been busy transporting and supporting them
I finally managed a few hours yesterday to install my Racor lift and remove the ambulance doors. I hope to have the top off soon.

Curious about the bolt on tailgate. I made a DIY one out of marine plywood but don’t love it. Ambulance doors don’t work so well once the top comes off....

I've been wanting to buy that same lift but they have gotten pricey.

@JDNs78FJ40 a little weird but one day that lift would be $250 on amazon and the next day it would be $500
keep looking and look on different devices. I bought low.
