Thank you @Jdc1 ...i replaced this hose (thermostat housing to heater pipe) with a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose and it is adequate but I would like to find an OEM or repro that has the same bends. I just haven’t found it online yet and Ive looked on SOR, city racer cruiser corp, etc.
I think you can still get this OEM hose(16261) from Toyata South Atlanta. Call their parts mgr Kyle Edwards--the hose is listed as ~$14--10% or more for MUD members---

I haven’t driven the Iron Yak in a few weeks because she isn’t well.
I am waiting on a smoke machine to arrive to diagnose suspected vacuum leaks ( think intake manifold)
meanwhile I am gathering parts for a sniper install….

The brown truck delivered the smoke machine last night. Cannot wait to get home from work today and try it out. My girls will be out of town weekend after next which will give me 2 full days of uninterrupted wrenching.

Unsuccessful attempt with the smoke machine tonight. First tried disconnecting the air cleaner hose and placing a rubber glove over the end of the air cleaner housing. Smoke was coming from virtually everywhere.
I then removed the air cleaner housing and tried numerous ways to prevent the top of the carburetor from leaking smoke. They all failed. I’m not entirely convinced I can assess the intake manifold with the carburetor on since smoke was leaking from here?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I would Like to make sure an intake manifold leak is the issue before I take it all apart.

That, no doubt, is the next step. Still not sure how to block off the top of the intake manifold to check for leaks elsewhere.

Possible win last night. Smoke test using the brake booster intake with carb on yielded smoke from the accelerator pump and boot. Thanks for the tips @OhioFJ .
So I removed the carberator and covered the insulator/heat shield with painters tape and could not see an exhaust manifold leak.
Did have a leak around one of the vacuum ports of the insulator/ heat shield. So removed it. Man it was crusty and snapped while I was trying to separate it. No big deal as I have a new one ready to go. I’ll cover the intake manifold opening and test again Saturday afternoon.
While there doesn’t appear to be a leak, there does appear to be a crack in the back inside of the intake manifold
What do guys think? Bottom of the intake manifold does not have the block off plate so I ordered that from Cruiser TEQ. Anyone know the size Allen head I needed to plug the gas filter opening?

I think you're seeing the parting line in the manifold casting, not a crack. That's leftover from the cores used to make the interior of the manifold passages. Good luck with the smoke testing, I've never seen that done before.

Andrew,
Thank you…..I am hopefully one step closer to leaving the intake manifold/header intact.
Final smoke test tomorrow will determine.
Regards,
Lance

Final smoke test successful. Tried everything to get a good seal here and finally did with a partially inflated rubber glove. Tucked a bit of it into the intake manifold, applied gentle pressure and it sealed. I did not see smoke leaking from anywhere. Cleaned the surface for future Sniper. Hopefully parts will be here prior to next weekend.
If not I have bilsteins and metal shims to replace the aluminum ones ready to go.

What is the purpose of the hole circled in red?

Anyone know the size of the Allen head plug that fills the gas filter spot?

anyone know the size and thread pitch of 91111-51030 bolt in post 152 above?
should be 10mm
