A friend that I’ve built a Land Cruiser referred this one to me. 1985 FJ60 that’s originally a Colorado truck but was purchased by the current owner about 5 years ago.

Low miles….135,000

H55 swap and EFI already done.

The goal, make it cool looking for use by the owners bike shop in Brevard North Carolina, The Hub…

Goal 2 is to make it nice and safe for the employees to drive into Pisgah and beyond on biking and camping trips.

I took it for my first big drive yesterday fully expecting the TBI to suck (compared to my beloved Sniper) but damn if it does not drive great.

The OME suspension is clapped out and the BFGs have never been rotated so both of them will be replaced.

Engine bay is nasty. Step one is to clean it up and replace parts as necessary. It does not really heat up and I think the thermostat is missing or stuck.

I got the engine bay pretty nice with a steam clean

I’m going to try to do something about this nasty style air cleaner.

I stuck some Trail Tailor skirts on it after I pulled the useless OME yeller shocks

I realized the emergency brake was stuck last week when the truck arrived so I ordered up some new rear drum parts from Toyota only to realize yesterday when I put it in the air that some clown replaced the drums with a disc brake kit with Eldorado calipers

These are fine on a 40 but on a 60 you lose your emergency brake when you dump the drums.

So….that s*** is gone.

Nothing works on a 60 like a perfectly rebuilt rear drum setup.

I had a set of OEM hard lines here I’d saved when I put the 80 axle in my 60

And one of the main goals on this one is to make it look cool as an advertisement for the bike shop and what’s cooler than a Safari Snorkel huh?

Un-exciting day of maintenance

Oil Change 20/50 with Zinc
Toyota Filter
90wt change all around
Brake Bleed
Grease in all the zerks
PCV valve and gasket

Went around the frame with rust converter. After the lift I’ll hose it good with Fluid Film. This one needs a good treatment before it heads to the WNC

I loaded the 80 up with parts for Powder Keg tomorrow

Had a friend visit from Saudi that I’m importing some trucks through.

Cowboy was all involved

Fresh drums are a thing of beauty!

Exciting to understand that is what cause the emergency brake to not work properly. No more bricks behind the back wheel when parked in a hill!
I am also currently using the same material for my e-brake!

Parts are starting to flow in ….. Summit Smooth Vintique powder matched to European Steelies with Yokohama 255/85-16s

Anyone else cringe when a tire shop thunks fresh rims down on bare pavement like that?

Vintiques and Yoko's still a winning combo - looks fantastic.

Back on the Hub60 …. Parts landed all weekend while I was off lounging with Red in Savannah

Remember that this build is for a bike shop so they partnered with Yakima for the rack system.

This is a pretty new addition to the Yakima line. It comes in a billion pieces. I could do it in 1/3 the time on a second one but working off a set of crappy instructions it was a chore.
