What is the latest on this one? I saw that you posted pictures of a bobbed Tacoma on Instagram. Is that your new crawler?

I sold it. And it went back east. I bought 2 new trucks . I have a Tacoma on 609 axles duel
cases and 40s that I bobbed the bed on

Taking the parts from the blue 40 to build the Taco?

I then found this 2002 that had A lot of great parts . After crunching some number . I jumped in my car and drove 14 hours to get it . For what I paid I could not get the parts that it had . It has 609 axles with a hi pinion front . ARB lockers front and rear with wilwood brakes . It has duell Marlin cases with the 4.7 gears . Brand new Battle Born. Beadlocks. And 40 in Nitto tires . The front is 3 link with an All pro kit. 14 inch fox 2.5 coilovers with dcs . All pro bumpers and a warn winch . I figured I could give that to a homeless . And a switch pro. That controls all the add ons . The interior is clean and the body is in good shape. Someone just painted it black . They painted right over the stickers and everything . . The truck is actually a pretty nice truck

On my way home I got invited to run Barrett lake train . At that point I had just driven about 23 hours straight. I literally drove down loaded the truck and was driving back. . Anyways I thought sure why not . I stopped filled up
The gas tank and off we went . At that point I knew nothing about the truck. I was not even really sure how the lockers worked since I had not even touched the switch pro . I did plug in the winch controller just to see if it worked and it did nothing . . O well I will worry about that latter off we go . I have never done the Barrett trail so I really did not know what to expect . What could happen lol on a trail I know nothing about in a truck I know nothing about and I have been up for a few days now . At the gatekeeper there was a couple jeeps having a heck of a time . Once they got through. I cruised right through. . Ok this thing is kinda fun . Let’s go . We made it to a section that has a buggy line and I figured why not . Put it in low low and away we went. . It went through with zero hesitation. At that point I was feeling confident. I kept messing with the switch pro as we were driving and I figured out the lockers as well . I did notice that the compressor would cycle often so I figured I had a leak somewhere . . We made it to a section the call the S Turn And there was a group of really nicely built Toyotas there. They were winching a 80 up . Then a very nice 2nd gen Tacoma on 40 gave it a shot and was struggling . He ended up winching as well . I then pressed more buttons lol and drove up without even spinning a tire . After that the Toyota group had to come look at what I was driving haha. . . That night at camp I kinda messed with the winch a little more to see if I could figure it out but no luck . I was not sure if they had some switch on it to disable it or what . My only complaint at this point is the steering seemed to get harder through out the day . I checked the fluid that night and I was a little low. So we topped it off and kinda gave the truck a good visual inspection . The next morning we headed out. And the steering seemed to be a little better and I literally was putting tires on the biggest rocks or hardest lines I could. Just so I could get a feel for what this truck can do . . Things I noticed. It is very quiet. I actually had the radio on . And the gas gauge. 2 days of wheeling and I only burned 1/4 tank this can’t be real . . We made it out with zero issues. And loaded up
And made it home .

Once I got home I started thinking . Maybe just keep the Ex cab for more extreme wheeling as it won’t bother me if it gets a scratch or dig. Just have fun with it. . Then build up
The double cab. And take my time and make it really nice . . I then started making it mine . First thing was I cut 12 inches out of the bed

I was going to pull the Warn winch off and give it away. But I figured I would see what was going on first . I could jump
It and it would work so I ordered a new contactor. After installing that still nothing. Then I found 1 of the contacts that the winch control
Plugs into was missing I fixed that and everything works fine . I could stomach a warn winch but I could not live with the badlands fairlead . So I got a factor 55 And a new winch line .

I also started getting all the parts to hook up
Hydro assist . I need to pull the box and send it up
To Redhead to get ported . . Other than that I have just kinda been going through everything and cleaning it up . I repainted the axle Black . Changed the filters ect . We are going down on the 24th to run Fordyce and then down to Johnson Valley for thanksgiving. So just kinda preparing for that

Oh I also started getting making a new rear bumper. I had started on this a while ago. For the FJ but never finished it

I also added the Air up Kit to the ARB compressor and i ordered a new Pan hard bar that is longer , When i have that in hand i will cut off the old mount and install the new mount . I think i will get some new PRP seats
